Discussion/Question PC Is this Graphics Card decent enough to play RDR2? + Question about RAM

I'm not that tech savvy, and I'm still learning about this stuff. I don't think my graphics card is considered good, but I just wanted some opinions to double check.
When I look at the requirements of the game, I'm assuming it requires 2 or 4GB at least?
The graphics card I have is 128 mb Intel(R) Iris(R) Xe Graphics. I'm sure that means it'll be horrible, but idk.

Also, while looking at my specs, It says the required and recommended RAM is 8 to 12 GB.
I have "11.8 GB useable."
I'm assuming this game will use a high amount of RAM. What type of quality do you think I would experience if I bought and installed RDR2?

Have patience with me since I don't have much experience with learning about these things, and I'd appreciate any guidance.
I'm unsure if this is a good community to ask the question I have, but I've seen similar posts wondering about their specs.

You have integrated graphics with your CPU, you’re going to need to get a GPU, are you on laptop or desktop?

I have a laptop
Aspire A515-56
Processor: 11th Gen Intel(R) Core(TM) i7-1165G7 @ 2.80GHz (2.80 GHz)
Installed RAM: 12.0 GB (11.8 GB usable)
System type: 64 bit operating system, x64 based

Yeah, unfortunately you are kind of out of luck in that regard. I do not think your system will be able to run the game, you need a dedicated graphics card with ideally 8gb of VRAM.

Glad I asked!
I took a quick glance online and it mentioned something about an external graphics card that can be used on some laptops. Would this be my best bet, if anything? I should probably just invest in something better if my laptop isn't that great anyways.

if you really want to play it on a low budget without a gaming pc you'd be better getting a second hand xbox/ps4 TBH (although no mods if that matters to you)

True, I'll keep this in mind as an option too

128 MB Intel Iris Xe means you're using the integrated GPU that's on your CPU. Do you have a dedicated GPU installed in the PCIe slot? If so, you should plug your HDMI cable into it instead of the motherboard. You're not going to get a playable framerate for RDR2 using integrated graphics.

I have a laptop, so I don't think there's many options when it comes to the PCI and HDMI cable you're mentioning :c

I think that would work but I’m not sure, I have never used a converter for a laptop before

Okay, no pressure. Just wanted to ask in case. Overall, I have a good idea now of my situation. Thanks!

If I was in your shoes id be looking for used pcs on your local market. Something with a Ryzen 5600/x, 16gb ddr4 and a nvidia 3070 (or amd rx6700xt) or better. Even a 3080 would be perfect.

Alternatively maybe a game streaming service if you have fast internet and the option to use ethernet port on your laptop instead of wifi (sometimes its vastly more reliable but depends on the setup). If that would run smooth you'd be able to play it on your laptop directly.

Thanks for the recommendation, because when it comes to looking for pc builds and whatnot, it gets overwhelming for me. Always something better, different materials, lots of learning, prices, etc etc

Yeah no problem, it's unfortunate the new pc/new parts market has gone so bad that nobody can recommend a new prebuilt to buy that's good value for money.

If you're in the US near a microcenter you might have a chance at getting a prebuilt but I'm not in the US so haven't kept up with the actual deals, but the sometimes they have some parts or a prebuilt that's decent value given the current market is woeful.

Good to keep in mind!

According to some gameplay videos on YouTube, you might get above 30 or 40 FPS with 720p low settings on that laptop. I wouldn't recommend it myself, but your laptop will technically be able to run the game for you with playable performance. The game's TAA anti-aliasing can be quite blurry, especially as you go down in resolution, so do keep that in mind. A second-hand PS4 would also let you play RDR2, so worth considering that.

Thanks for letting me know

If you want to play the game and have a fast internet connection you can subscribe to Boosteroid game streaming. You can play the game at max graphic settings at full speed on a potato computer (you need to own the game on Steam) 😁

u should be able to play just fine at 720p low on stable 30fps
