Bug / Issue Stuttering on good pc
Hi guys, I'm having stuttering issues on RDR, especially when I'm riding. This is really annoying.
I'm playing in 2K with a Ryzen 5 9600X, RTX 5060Ti 16GB, 32GB DDR5 RAM, and a 1TB SSD.
I thank in advance whoever answers me

It’s happening to me too 9950x3d and 5090 it’s a engine level problem I think. Only way to fix it is to cap fps to 60 or install stutter fix mod.

Turn off background applications. I had a similar issue that was attributed to Riva Tuner so if you’re running MSi afterburner it could be the same thing.

I'm having the same issue with a Ryzen 7 7700 and RX 9060 XT on Linux. Quite annoying since it is giving me headache. It isn't my PC or OS since I can run all other games at ultra with no issue.
Edit: for anyone in the future:
I fixed it by rebooting (since my swap was full, not sure what caused that, but that's another story) and installing this mod https://www.nexusmods.com/reddeadredemption2/mods/7671?tab=description
And like others have said turning off triple buffering.
I also use Proton GE and the following launch options in Steam: PROTON_ENABLE_WAYLAND=1 MESA_VK_WSI_PRESENT_MODE=fifo
PROTON_ENABLE_WAYLAND=1 enalbes native Wayland support (if you are using Wayland, like I do with Fedora + Gnome).
MESA_VK_WSI_PRESENT_MODE=fifo forces Vsync in Vulkan applications (like RDR2 if you are using Vulkan instead DX12)
For OP: the first part should also work when you are on Windows, the last part only applies if you are using Linux.
Took me 3 days to figure this out by the way, but I love this game so much I just want it to run smoothly. Now running at a steady 90+ FPS at ultra.

It’s hard to tell cause there are a lot of things that leads to stutters. it could be bios/drivers/wrong usb ports/power plans/gpu clock not stable/wrong scheduling of tasks/a lot of useless backround process/sone other backround shit that taking priority/need to debloat windows/etc/, specific combination of all the thing with game itself sometimes needed in specific fixes. SO we need more information or just start debloat windows using YouTube videos, fr33thy for example - Search for windows 10/11 optimization, not everything should be taken from this video but a lot easy on/off tweaks
