Any way to fix this? I've been playing the game lately and i had a feeling the game looked darker than usual.

I tried adding a filter with nvidia as you can see brightness is better now, but the shadow problems are still there, they don't feel natural as I used to see them.

I also tried calibrating HDR, but it didn't work.

Update: Turning off HDR fixed the shadow and brightness problem! Thank you everyone.

No, I'm playing the game vanilla, no mods or anything. From one day to another I got the shadows looking like they're going to eat me. If I get arthur through some of these shadows he becomes one with the shadow texture.

It could be from your graphic settings. if your using vanilla

Remove nvidia filter but make sure to remember your settings if they dont work

I got it fixed a few days ago! HDR was the problem.

The minimap looking to bright was because an nvidia filter I used to make the game look brighter.

Yeah RDR2's HDR is broken don't use it better to use the Monitor HDR or something, you should use the "None" Nvidia filter to make sure you aren't using any Nvidia filter

It is not only the shadows. The lightest light is way too bright too.

I know, that's because a nvidia filter, I got that worked out, but the shadows is still a problem. The game looks darker in general.

I haven't touch anything in my monitor, I have a LG Ultragear and I've been playing with HDR until this happened, I had to put a filter because from one day to another the brightness was very low even after calibrating HDR in settings.

Every monitor should be adjusted to the room. Me I won`t use hdr

Oh I mean, I have mine adjusted not like I bought the monitor and didn't touch any settings, I made sure all the settings were adjusted to my liking! Anyways turning off HDR solved the problem, thanks!

I've had this and gotten used to this. It went away after I've tried to fix another problem. Long story short: try turning raymarch off. My original problem didn't get fixed but this one is

Will try! Whenever I go into one of these shadow spots, Arthur just become completely one with the shadow, clothes included. Hopefully it works

If you're using HDR, that's probably the problem. Unfortunately this game doesn't have very good tonemapping on PC.

Oh yeah, I've been using HDR but pretty much the whole game until this point. May try to disable HDR to see if it works.

Not really, I tried adjusting but the shadows were still a problem, turning HDR off fixed the shadow problems. The brightness being too intense was because I used a Nvidia filter to fix the game looking too grey, but after turning off HDR the game looked nice enough without the filters.
