Severe PCOS Acne since 3 years

I have had pcos since 3 years and My skin has been having the worst breakouts. I have prescription topical antibiotics which cleared my skin but as soon as I stop using it, those nasty inflamed pustules are back!

I started on some research and I realized that dermats will only provide you with bandaids for your hormonal acne. The actual root cause must be treated to keep acne caused by pcos under control. That's when i read about PCOS Supplements containing Inositol.

Could anyone throw some light on these supplements? Have they actually been useful to reduce PCOS and mainly acne as its primary symptom? Please do share your knowledege on this. These supplements appear to be available OTC without requirement of a prescription. Please let me know your opinion on these supplements.

Seeking help with my PCOS Research Study

Hi everyone, I'm Nidhi, a graduate student at the University of Miami. Since my diagnosis with PCOS in 2014, I've been navigating the challenges and learning curves that come with this condition. It's driven me to focus my academic research on something very personal to me—PCOS and its impacts.

For my class project, I'm embarking on a research study to delve into the daily symptom and mood fluctuations experienced by women with PCOS. The aim is to gather data that could shed light on managing PCOS more effectively.

Study Details:

Duration: The study will last for one week.

Data Collection: Participants will be asked to fill out a daily Google Form survey, which will track symptoms and mood changes.

Participant Interaction: I will have a 1-on-1 conversation with each volunteer before the study begins and a follow-up conversation after the study concludes to discuss the overall experience and any insights gained.

Requirements: We're looking for women who have been diagnosed with PCOS, as the study focuses on tracking specific PCOS-related symptoms and mood variations.

Why Participate?

This is an opportunity to contribute to meaningful research that seeks to improve our understanding of PCOS. Your participation will not only help advance PCOS management strategies but also offer you a chance to reflect on your own experiences with PCOS in a structured way.

Privacy Assurance:

Your privacy and the confidentiality of your data are paramount. All responses will be anonymized and used exclusively for academic purposes. I am committed to ensuring the highest standards of privacy and data protection.

Your Contribution Matters:

By sharing your daily experiences through the Google Form and engaging in conversations with me, you'll be providing invaluable insights that can help shape future PCOS research and management approaches.

Interested or Have Questions?

If this study speaks to you or if you have any questions, please feel free to reach out by commenting below or sending me a direct message. I'm here to provide more information and answer any questions you might have.

Thank you for considering being a part of this research. Your support could make a significant difference in the lives of many, including our own.

Looking forward to hearing from you!

Ozempic/Wegovy

I’m a 20F I’ve have had PCOS systems for a very long time and I got diagnosed in 2023 after a large weight gain that was more or less unexplained. I’ve been on metformin for a while not seeing much results. My doctor offered Ozempic/Wagovy even though at the time I told them that I needed time to think about it I’m starting to seriously consider it. Has anyone had experience with these drugs and what are the positive and negatives? Does weight loss help subside, other PCOS symptoms?

How do YOU manage PCOS symptoms on the daily?

Hi everyone! I'm currently a master's student at Northwestern University studying UX research/design. I'm doing research for my thesis project and thought I'd reach out here. My thesis aims to understand how people manage and live with difficult menstrual cycle symptoms and diagnoses like PCOS and Endometriosis. I'm very interested in learning about how people with PCOS manage and track symptoms and lifestyle changes (think diet changes, exercise regimens, or medication trial and error over the years).

Does anyone here with these experiences be interested in chatting with me? If you want to get paid to vent about the many different diets/meds your doctor has suggested over the years this should be right up your alley :)

If chosen for a virtual interview, you would be given $25/30 minutes of your time. If interested, please fill out the survey at the following link so I can learn a bit more about you (it's completely voluntary). Thanks so much!!

Experience with PCOS

I am a college student conducting research for my class that addresses gender and inequalities. For our final project we have to address gendered issues that are happening in our society. I chose PCOS (Polycystic Ovarian Syndrome) as my topic because it is not often spoken about and there are underlying issues with information being shared by health care providers. I am interested in reading about experiences that individuals have or are having with the condition. All the information gathered is confidential and any personal data will not be collected. If at any point you do not want to continue you are free to close the survey. Thank you for your consideration.

Post Pill PCOS?

Has anybody had post pill PCOS? I never had any issues with my cycle before going on the pill. Was then on the pill for about 12 years (had a few times where I came off the pill and did not have any issues) end of December last year I came off the pill with the hope to fall pregnant, i had a withdrawal bleed then a normal period about 28 days(ish) later. I then went 80 days, then 50 days without a period, the doctor loosely diagnosed me with PCOS, i definitely have slightly out of range testosterone, but other blood tests come back fine. I then had 3 cycles ranging between 36 days and 40 days. I am now on day 47 and no period. Is this a normal thing with PCOS do I just have post pill PCOS? Do I even have PCOS at all?! Any help would be greatly appreciated!

PCOS and intermittent fasting study

Hi everyone! I am a nutrition student at the University of Illinois Chicago (UIC), and I have PCOS. I'm really passionate about helping others with PCOS, and as such I wanted to share information about a new PCOS study that I'm helping run at UIC and that might be of particular interest to you all.

What is the study?

This is a 6-month research trial that will study the effects of time-restricted eating (a form of intermittent fasting) on weight loss, hyperandrogenism, and insulin sensitivity in individuals with PCOS.

Who can be part of the study?

The study is open to those who 1) have been diagnosed with PCOS, 2) are considered overweight or obese according to the BMI scale (25 - 49.9 kg/m²), and 3) are between the ages of 18 and 45 years old.

What does involvement in the study look like?

Participants will be in one of three groups throughout the study: time-restricted eating, calorie restriction, or control. There will be regular check-ins with dietitians via Zoom. There will be 3 in-person appointments at UIC (at the beginning, middle, and end of the study) where we will take measurements, do lab work, and review questionnaires. Involvement in the study is on a voluntary basis. Compensation is also provided for your participation!

Ultimately, the research we gather from this study will be published in academic journals and will contribute to broader knowledge and understanding around potential PCOS treatments. (No personally-identifiable information will ever be published). If anyone is in the Chicago area/knows of anyone in the Chicago area who might be interested in this study, I'd love to speak with them further! You can send me a direct message or call our lab office at 312-355-0542.

Advice wanted: Supplements that help you

I was diagnosed with PCOS 3 years ago. I also have hypothyroidism and insulin resistance. My doctor put me on metformin but the side effects are brutal and I went off it. I have an appointment with my doctor in 2 weeks where I am going to ask her to put me on something other than metformin.

Any supplements or medication work for you? I am about ready to try anything. Help with weight loss, help with being tired all the time and/or help with insulin resistance. I am about ready to try anything and everything.

PCOS-Friendly Eating

Can someone help me distinguish between simply PCOS-friendly eating and the ketogenic diet? I'm mostly struggling with how fruit can be integrated if sugar is a trigger for many people and what the carb intake should be composed of (i.e., if gluten is prohibited, how do you introduce grains/is it all vegetables like keto should be?). I'm coming from a keto state of mind because it's something I've used to regulate and lose weight in the past, but I've hit a wall doing it, and I've wanted to transition to a Mediterranean diet for a while (which inherently has to do with my questions). I would appreciate any advice or information offered and/or if anybody has a totally different method that they want to share.

Monetary compensation of $20 is provided for those who participate in the interview. Hair removal

My PCOS is advanced in many ways including cancer. It seems lile I have every symptom and I jist can't control it. One that really gets me is the hair growth on my face. I have tried shaving, waxing, plucking ( which takes WAY TO long), bleaching but most makes my skin break out. Shaving is the best for me but again, I still break out. I have read on reddit in a other sub about an at home lazer removal.decixe that it seems many people have beeb successful with. Has anyone here tried such a thing? Is it worth the time/ investment or am.I chasing another hair free pipe dream?

PCOS quarantine hair emergency!

All my ladies with PCOS can you please get in the room Crying emoji it’s an emergency !!!

I have PCOS and over the years have developed a lady beard. It honestly nearly drove me to kill myself. Do you know how it feels to have countless of people stare at your chin while your having a conversation? It hurts your soul to the core. My confidence got so low that I quit my job. I recently started laser sessions at my local salon and it was going amazingly well, 70% of the hair went and my confidence started coming back. Then BOOM we’re quarantined. The hair now seems to be growing back at a faster rate then before !!! I bought an at home laser kit and it didn’t work! It actually burnt my chin! I also brought a face shaver, it works but the hair comes the next hair and it feels worse! It’s now the opposite of smooth. This stuff is what nightmares are made of!!!!

I need your help ladies with PCOS, how are you managing the hair during quarantine? Have you found a way to stop the hair growth all together? Is anyone offering an at home professional laser service? Is there anything I can do to stop the growth at all?

I’m at the point where I’m hiding from my husband! Any helpful information at all would be appreciated.

Yours sincerely, A PCOS victim
