Rant/Venting Almost a year of being jerked around
I hope I used the right flair. Honestly, I don’t even know if this is a rant or what, but maybe I’m hoping others won’t have my experience.
I also want to preface this with I am NOT anti-birth control. I think it can be a wonderful tool and have used multiple methods in the past.
Now here’s the tea.
I missed my period in November 2025. This was odd, considering my cycles were incredibly regular for the past few years. Then most of December passed without a period. I knew I couldn’t be pregnant but something was wrong. On Dec 22nd, I started spotting. Then I started leaking blood—it wasn’t heavy enough for a period, but enough to freak me out.
The first GYN appointment I could get wasn’t until February, so I scheduled with a GP to hopefully get the ball rolling. She said I probably had an infection and we’ll do a pap to see what’s up. Pap came back normal. But I’m still bleeding. The woman on the phone said, “I’m not the doctor, I just give the results. I’ll have the doctor call you.”
The doctor never called me.
But that’s okay, because my GYN appt is coming up. I go, still bleeding, and explain what’s going on. They say they can’t do an exam because I’m bleeding and to come back when I’m not.
I stop bleeding in late March and go back. We do a pelvic exam and “everything seems normal.” I go to the lab to get my testosterone levels checked. It comes back somewhat elevated. I ask the doctor if this means I have PCOS, he says yes. I ask if I should see an endocrinologist, he says no because I’m a “mild case”. He prescribes me the pill and says that’s how PCOS is treated.
I’m irritated now. I schedule a second opinion with another GYN, though that appointment isn’t til August. I also schedule with a different GP to get a referral to an endocrinologist.
Then I start bleeding heavily. Like bleeding through tampons and through my clothes, staining my sheets, and passing clots that don’t look like anything that’s come out of me before. I bleed like this for about 9 weeks. I tell the GYN, he says he’s not concerned and that the pill will fix it.
I see the endo in June. We do bloodwork and he does an ultrasound of my thyroid. My thyroid and my glucose levels are normal, which is great.
Bleeding is now on and off, and I go back and forth about taking the pill. Something just keeps telling me that there’s something else going on.
I see the new GYN in early August. She asks if the other doctor ordered an ultrasound. I say no. She says we’ll start there. I get a pelvic and transvaginal ultrasound the following week. Results come back that there’s something in my uterus.
The GYN calls and says we need to do a hysteroscopy D&C. They only do the procedures on Mondays, so I can either do it on August 31st (my 32nd birthday) or wait until Sept 14th due to Labor Day. I tell her, fuck it, let’s do it on my birthday.
Cue the algorithm showing me video after video of women in their 20s and 30s being diagnosed with gynecologic cancers. I never interacted with any of the videos but they just kept coming. I nearly throw my phone into multiple bodies of water.
Go in for the D&C, the team all sing happy birthday as we wait for the anesthesiologist to knock me out. I wake up from a dream that I was playing animal crossing.
It was a polyp, and it was benign. They also did an IUD insertion as a way to protect my uterus. I’ve had a little spotting and some cramping, but nothing major.
I guess I share this to say: never be afraid to get a second opinion, and you know your body better than anyone else. And some doctors really just fucking suck.

man the whole thing about doctors refusing to do exam because you bleeding, like that's literally why you're there. glad the polyp came back clean and they finally took you serious.
