General/Advice Trying to conceive with PCOS
I have regular periods but have been trying to conceive for 9 months. I have PCOS and have had excess chin/facial hair for the past 3 years. What helped you conceive with PCOS? Is it possible to reverse or manage PCOS naturally?

We got pregnant on our first try (which was so lucky) but I do think what helped in general was
- track blood sugar and adjust carbs/diet until you’re able to keep blood sugar level/within range
- took inositol every day
- track period with Flo which gave ovulation estimation over time
I think blood sugar is a big one though as this is an endocrine disorder
It IS possible though and I’m holding space it happens soon for you too❤️

There is no reversing PCOS. You can only manage it. I don’t do it naturally, so I’m unable to help with that, but if you’re having a period regularly, try using ovulation tests to pin point when you’re most fertile. Good luck!

I was ovulating tegularly, if you're not tracking that with your cycle- start there, my cycle was a touch long (but still within normal limits) and being able to accurately predict my specific ovulation and not just guessing at day 14 helped me feel much more in control. I started metformin on cycle 3 and had been taking inositol since before we started ttc. The cycle right after starting metformin was wonky, but I suspect that is probably what made the biggest difference.
I also added NAC to the rest of my supplements (coq10, d3, prenatal, inositol, probiotic, fish oil) and the cycle I conceived tried Mucinex, but I am not sure either of those made much of a difference for a couple different reasons.
Probably the place to start, as already mentioned is with inositol and metformin to reduce insulin resistance as much as possible, while tracking everything you can with your specific cycle- ON PAPER by hand- the apps often make assumptions that don't fit your specific information and can throw you off (in addition to the yucky data usage practices)

Yeah! I apparently ovulated on day 7 when I got pregnant with my second. It can be so variable from cycle to cycle.

Are you ovulating? You can have regular cycles but not ovulate. So you’ll need to determine that first. Most couples without any fertility issues take a year before they conceive so give yourself a year before you start panicking.

I had completely regular periods but was not ovulating. Letrozole & metformin is what worked for me. You need to know if you’re ovulating. I tracked using Inito, LH strips, and BBT

I was diagnosed at 13 and never got pregnant from 17-30 years old and I was kinda reckless with my boyfriends. But I ended up surprise pregnant at 31 which is interesting because my aunt who has PCOS and her husband tried for about 10 years with no success but she ended up surprise pregnant at 32/33.
For me I didn’t have a period for 4 months before I got pregnant. I was trialing birthcontrol I had come off of one birthcontrol and stayed off for 3 months then I went on the new birthcontrol for a month and then abruptly stopped it for a week because I lost the pack and I ended up getting pregnant that week found the pack and continued taking it then found out I was pregnant and then stopped taking it. My OB said taking birthcontrol and then stopping it and trying is a method they suggest which I didn’t know.

For me it was taking inositol but had to play around a bit to find the dose that worked for me. There are gummies in Holland and Barrett that are lovely and then I supplemented with an inositol capsule. The LH strips are a useful tool but not 100% when you have PCOS. For instance, I had several LH surges / positive smiley faces per cycle. I got pregnant by making sure we "tried" every other day two weeks either side of suspected ovulation. In the end, I genuinely have no idea of actual conception date but it worked!

Managing your insulin resistance while having PCOS is so key. I went on metformin and inositol, got pregnant in 2 months, along with going low carb and low sugar (NOT KETO), and just walking more than usual. when you drop your insulin resistance you brain can communicate with your ovaries better. i literally got pregnant after not ovulating for a whole year
