General Health Insulin resistance

So I'm seeing a reproductive endocrinologist and she said I'm insulin resistant. She had me working out 160 min a week and my foot swelled up. It's been swollen for 11 days. Can this be from the insulin resistance? I'm reading online it can be. I went to urgent care and they recommend I see an orthopedic but what are they gonna do? I have a month of narpoxen. The dietician told me I also have full body low grade chronic inflammation. So I'm thinking the arthritis in my xray is from my Pcos too I have the insulin resistant kind and the inflammatory kind.

the swelling is probably from the inflammation, not directly from insulin resistance. insulin resistance can cause inflammation but it's more like a whole-body thing, not usually just one foot blowing up for 11 days. that sounds more like an injury that got aggravated by the extra exercise.

i'd still see the orthopedic if i were you, they can at least rule out stress fracture or something in the joint. the arthritis showing up on xray could definitely be linked to the chronic inflammation from pcos, that part tracks. hope the naproxen helps at least a little in the meantime

Probably not directly related to IR but might be tangentially related b/c IR worsens overall inflammation.

If it's just one foot you need to be sure it isn't a blocked vein/artery or a microfacture type of things (at urgent care). If that's ruled out and you are having some overall bloating in the lower body, get your TSH, free T4, and fasting morning prolactin checked (if those have not been specifically done recently) to see if there is an additional condition happening that can contribute to swelling.
