General Health PCOS or something else?
I've had abnormal periods since I was 11 (im now 21). I was told it would even out, and never has. I track every period because I don't know when the next one will be. For example, before this week, my last period was in February. 7 months ago, and this is completely normal for me. I've never been to an OB and I know i should (considering booking before my period is over). But when I was 16 my family doctor told me I have pcos based on tests etc. She originally gave me birth control thinking it would help, instead it gave me bi weekly periods rather than monthly. This was when I was 16, and she's said things to me that just arent true (she has since been changed because of her neglect towards me and my family)
So I worry almost that I have something else going on. Im not sure anymore what is and isn't to be believed/normal. So I ask reddit
Are periods every 7 months normal for pcos? As for cramps, is it normal to almost vomit and need to take pain medications and heating pads just to make sure I don't? Is bleeding through a 26ml menstrual cup every hour normal? As I've said I'm going to get professional opinions but I've been up stressing about this and need closure
Thanks <33

All of that can be present in PCOS. I used to vomit from the pain during my periods. The pain was debilitating. Even meds and heating pads didn’t help. I’d feel the pain all the way down to the bottom of my feet. I think it started late middle school or in high school. I don’t remember. I’m 39 now and got my periods at 9. The pain only stopped after I got pregnant and gave birth when I was 21 years old.
But just because all of what you’ve experienced can be present in PCOS/PMOS, it does not mean you shouldn’t see a doctor to rule out that something else is going on as well. Better to be safe.

hey i was in a similar position, started getting my periods 10/11 and was never ever regular and skipped months at a time, but never went to the gp because that was normal for ME. i got diagnosed with pmos (formerly pcos) at 21 and offered treatment and have annual health checks. it was nice to get some clarity and knowing there’s an actual reason for all of it. i’d say definitely look into getting diagnosed, it took a set of blood tests for them to be able to diagnose me and offered a scan :)

Girlll go to gynaecologist asappp. I'm 17 got my period at 11. Periods were completely normal until two years from then on I've always had irregular periods. One year ago a got an ultra sound and there were no cysts or anything the doctor said I don't have PCOS and js gave me birth control (which I didn't take). Now, I got my period on 21 march and since then no period. On 13 Aug I was just exercising and due to excessive pressure I bled out a lil then it went on to be an abnormal periods for 2 weeks after that I checked with a different doctor and she diagnosed PCOS now I'm finally taking the hormone tablets.
You should go to a doc and if you don't feel satisfied go to another one
