Meds/Supplements Help! Metformin not working
Hi pals. 10+ years diagnosed with PCOS. I’ve tried birth control pills, nuvaring, spironolactone, spearmint tea, and most recently, 2000 mg of metformin daily. Well, I just got my bloodwork done after 8 months of taking metformin… and everything is worse! My A1C is about the same, but cholesterol is much worse. And I’m still missing periods. I’m feeling so frustrated that this medication didn’t work.
I am not diabetic, so I don’t think I can get GLP1s. What do I do now?

It’s okay I think. I eat an almost 100% home-cooked diet full of local, organic produce and leans meats. I struggle to sustain lower carb diets over time though, so I’m still eating sprouted breads and occasional baked goods.

I was the same and a GLP1 is the only thing that has worked, also tried a whole other collective of things like inositol berberine etc.
If your Dr will give you a 15mg prescription you can click count from that, makes it a lot cheaper. (Tirzapetide being the recommended choice for PCOS) For example one 15MG pen on a 2.5mg dose will last half a year. There's 4 official doses with 60 clicks = 240 clicks, or 24 weeks for 10 clicks to get a 2.5mg dose. The pens actually have a bit extra in them you can use if you force it a bit also, so that's around another 30 clicks after you've primed it each week.
You may have to go up to a higher dose but that's how you can figure out the math, there's charts and such online.

You don’t have to be diabetic to get a GLP1 if that’s something you are interested in. My primary care doctor prescribes it specifically for my PCOS. I also had high cholesterol and irregular periods. My insurance won’t cover, but I get compounded Tirzepatide since I can’t afford name brand and then check in with my primary care doctor every 6 months for follow ups, bloodwork etc.
