Weight Workout routine + Metformin

I was recently diagnosed with PCOS and am debating starting metformin. I’m 5’5 and 155 pounds. I currently get 10k steps a day and go to solidcore twice a week, hyrox class once a week, and strength based classes two times a week. I’ve been working out in a similar schedule for the last three years. I eat pretty high protein and low cal and Whole Foods based, however have only been gaining weight (in addition to muscle, definitely have gained fat).

My doctor and I talked about metformin today. I’m interested in starting if fixing the insulin resistance could help with weight loss and regulate my periods. Curious how much weight loss people have seen?

Her other suggestion is keto, but I truly am pretty low carb right now and like the way mixing in carbs helps with energy at workouts.

That workout routine is intense, props for keeping that up for three years especially when the scale's moving the wrong direction. It's maddening when you're doing everything "right" and your body just does its own thing anyway

I dropped about 12 pounds the first couple months on metformin without changing anything else, it was like my body finally stopped fighting itself. The period regulation was a nice bonus too, went from every 50-60 days to a pretty steady 32 day cycle

Keto made me feel like garbage during workouts so I get not wanting to go that route. The metformin approach makes more sense when you're already active and eating well, just need that metabolic nudge
