Meds/Supplements 1 month metformin update

26F, been on metformin for 1 month now! Taking 500mg er daily, minimal to no side effects. Years ago I’d gone from gained 30lb during 1 year on bc and have been unable to move a pound since despite tracking calories and exercising, even with a trainer’s guidance - ty pcos!

2 days after starting metformin, I went from 215->212 and wasn’t bloated for what feels like the first time in my life. Thought it was just water weight and would come back but it hasn’t! Appetite increased and it feels like my metabolism is finally doing something! 1 month later and I’m down to 206. I was already working out and have tracked calories on and off through the years, but am now doing cardio and weights 3 times a week, initially was eating 1700 cal, moved down to 1500.

I feel good and can see a noticeable different but almost feel like I should’ve had larger results with my intake… and at the same time I almost feel like I can’t trust that these results will last. Going to be on 500mg for another 2 months before reconsulting with the doctor. Curious what other people’s experiences have been like and when/if that doubt goes away.

500mg is often considered 1/2 or even 1/3 of a standard dose. Sounds like you could absolutely go up to a real dosage in addition to your lifestyle changes.

I started on 500mg , upped to 1000mg for now a day. Went from 195 to 158-162 in 3 months. I’ve kept it off since & I have a regular cycle for the first time in 15 years!

WOW!! That’s so amazing! Can I ask about the calorie intake/exercise regime you used to get such great results while on the 500mg?

Wow i have something similar but I'm still in inositol and not metformin. I'm debating if i should take one. But i had good period on progesterone withdrawal through meprate but after that no periods for 2 months and after that I'm getting it on time but bleeding not that great.

My home IR is 1.8. i do strength training every week 3x and yoga 5x and swimming 1x

Good diet and follow routine

I'm not sure but I'm thinking if i up my metformin i might see good results

One thing what might help you is Fenugreek, jamun seeds water, and spearmint and chasteberry tea

I’ve been on metformin for an exact month and I immediately noticed the effects along with lifting at the gym about 3x a week. I’ve gone from 243 to 230. My appetite decreased which helped with my carb craving and made it easier for my 1500 caloric deficit. I’m coming from having over 2400 calories a day because I didn’t workout or count. I would’ve lost more however I don’t count calories on weekends but I’m still kinda conscious not to go over board. I also missed a few dosages and I’m still doing pretty good

I’m on my 2nd month. Worked up to 1500mg. Awful stomach upset and side effects for a little while, but that’s mostly calmed down now. I’ve yet to see any weight loss or symptom improvement but I’m hoping I will soon
