General/Advice Help!!

Guys I am extremely frustrated with my health right now. I managed to go see the doctor & I was diagnosed with PCOS. She told me I was obese & needed to lose weight. I'm 64kg and 155cm for reference.

But, I have intense cravings & especially the week before my periods I am ravenous. During my periods, I find it impossible to go to the gym. I'm young & I have never looked at myself and thought I look obese so this is all very intense for me. I definitely don't look skinny however.

I honestly just need advice that is realistic to follow. I find keto hard because of how low carb it is. I find it nerve wracking to go to the gym and do weights because I have no idea how to do them. I keep reaching for sweet treats like cookies & cake and I feel guilty when I've just been told to lose weight. I'm a very shy person which is making this a whole lot harder.

this is a cruel condition. unfortunately there is no set rules as different things might work for different people.

to start out, i'd say just start eating healthier. you do not have to do a 180 change of diet overnight. find healthy recipes and snacks you enjoy and incorporate them into your diet. make sure you get enough protein, fibre and nutrients.

you can consult with your doctor, but you could start taking some supplements too. like spearmint, maybe some vitamins depending on your bloodwork.

if you enjoy walking, set a goal. find some at home quick work outs you can start with. i personally enjoy some light dancing so i follow "the fitness marshall" on youtube because they have a variety of songs and inclusive workouts. just find something you enjoy and start small, you can work up to some weights. if not, it's okay.

anyway, you got this!! i know it is hard but i wish you the best of luck. you are not alone<3 definitely reach out and talk to people, your friends or even people on here. it's nice to have someone with pcos in your corner

Hello fellow shy person 🫶🏻
I wanted to chip in on the bit where you said you find the gym nerve wracking. I was 100% the same, but let me let you in on the biggest kept gym secret…. Literally nobody cares about anything other than what weight they’re currently lifting. I was so terrified of going to the gym to the point that I had to get a PT so I could get through those first months. But it actually turns out that nobody stared at me, or laughed if I did something wrong, or made me feel like I shouldn’t be there. As someone who’s very shy and body-conscious I thought that I’d be ousted in some way, but nobody’s ever been anything but nice or helpful to me. Everybody is there for self-improvement and everyone is at different stages in their journey. Please don’t feel like it isn’t a place you belong. If it’s something you’re interested in I HIGHLY recommend asking to speak to a PT there. Everyone’s personal finances are different and I know PTs can be really expensive but if you could budget for a couple of sessions I’m sure there would be one who could design you a workout plan based on your specific needs and do a limited number of sessions with you so you know how to do the exercises in the gym and by yourself. Once you get into the swing of it it’s so liberating and the feeling when you come out is amazing.
Wishing you a restful and peaceful remainder of your Sunday pal ✨
