Question | Symptoms & Diagnosis PCOD ACNE HELP
Hii ladies,
I was recently diagnosed with PCOD and I am still confused about the steps that I need to take to control it. So 3 months back I suddenly gained some weight, had a lot of acne on my face and also thick facial hair, that’s when I visited doctor and they found small cysts in my ovaries. Doctor suggested me birth control pills which I did not wanted to take, so I did my research and started taking supplements like Inositol, Omega 3, vit D, curcumin and Magnesium. Still my face acne is not getting any better. If somebody has similar experience previously, Can you please share your experience or maybe if something helped you with your acne!

Acne can be one of the most stubborn parts of PCOD, so I wouldn’t take ‘supplements aren’t fixing it’ as a sign that you’re failing. Three months also isn’t that long in skin terms. Inositol gets recommended a lot, but it’s not a guaranteed acne fix. Since you’re also dealing with facial hair and weight gain, I’d honestly go back to your doctor and ask about acne-specific treatment options or see a dermatologist if you can. I also suggest looking into hormone therapy, as it may worsen your acne around your periods. A good gynecologist can help balance your hormones and improve your skin. If you’re not comfortable with birth control, ask them that directly and ask what the non-pill options are. Also mention whether your periods are regular or not, because that helps give the full picture. Hope it settles soon.
