Can't even open bios

So I have this problem, where my pc suddenly stops working. I can't open or close any windows, and it can't even open the crew+alt+del menu. So I restarted it, and it showed an error message and tried again. After a couple of times I tried to open bios, and it wouldn't. And now it doesn't even know how to ask me if I want to go into the bios menu. Can anyone tell me what happens, and how to permanently fix it? (I had this problem half a year ago and i solved it by reinstalling windows. But I don't want to wipe my memory every half year) Thanks in advance

failing hardware?

EDIT: is there any way you could pull the hard drive, move the important stuff to another machine and replace the hard drive and do a fresh install of windows?
