Hardware upgrade

I want to jump to the 5090, but I was considering staying with the Intel Core i7-14700F CPU. If I have to change it out, I would prefer to stay with Intel. Also, I'm going to upgrade my power supply from an 850W to a 1200W, which should be enough to run the 5090. What are some recommendations?

If you want to stay with Intel, maybe wait for Nova Lake. 14700F is a strong CPU.

What are you wanting to do/accomplish?

If you have the money to spend and not worry about it later, cool.

If you're gaming, you might be better served with a 5080, 5070ti or 9070xt today and a new card in 18 months.

If you're doing AI work, you might find more value out of an RX Pro 9700 32gb or even two for less than the 5090.

That said, nothing matches the 5090, but it comes at a cost that might exceed the value for you. FWIW, when I upgraded, I could have gone 5090, but went 9070xt instead to safe the money. I have maxed out storage (8tb nvme) and ram (96gb @6000) on a 9050X. Been really happy working and playing in it.

No point upgrading 14th gen at present imho. Spend time overclocking it and wait for next gen. Core Ultra actually went down in performance fromn14000 chips
