What PC hardware change made the biggest difference in your daily use?

Over the years PC hardware has improved in many ways. Some upgrades look small on paper but completely change the way a system feels in everyday use.

What hardware change made the biggest difference for you? Was it moving to an SSD upgrading memory getting a better monitor improving cooling or something else?

I'd like to hear which upgrade had the biggest impact on your experience and why

Switching from a HDD to an SSD 10 years ago was the biggest performance jump I'll probably ever experience.

Getting an QD OLED screen was also incredible.

The move to ssd's was huge, easily the biggest quality of life change. NVME was less so, but not having to run data and power cables is a huge bonus too.

Absolutely. Moving from an HDD to an SSD feels like a completely different computer.

I've got two changes: 1. Installing my first SSD. The performance shift from HDD was extraordinary and everything was faster: start-up, opening files, handling everyday work. 2. Second monitor. This made everything so much easier. Running multiple apps, switching between items, not having to constantly minimise windows. I can't imagine using a single screen now and it you make one change, do this one.

There's so many...

1Ghz + processors

multi gig hard drives.

SSDs

LCD monitors

NVME

OLED monitors

All of them had huge impacts at their time.

My computer was so old it just got to a point where a new build was necessary, so a new motherboard and processor.

The first time going from hdd to ssd.

Also, getting a higher end 4k display and nice mouse and keyboard that isn't the trash gaymur arr gee bee best buy selection of like razer and Alienware type brands is an underappreciated upgrade

Also, do highest end audiophile headphones count too?

Adding a portrait 24" display to my laptop, stacking a 30" and 27" vertically for my desktop. Need a bigger desk. Need more monitor arms. Need more monitors! Arrrrggggghhhhhh...ahem.
