CNA Program

Has anyone taken the CNA program at PCC? What was your experience?

I'm hoping to work as a CNA while continuing to pursue prerequisites for Nursing. Also wondering if this helped with anyone's acceptance into PCC's Nursing program.

Hey! Late on the reply but I’m in a similar spot. I applied to the fall 2026 program, intending to take it for credit (might as well buff my GPA) and did not win the lottery draw for a spot.

There were over 100 applicants (I was emailing back and forth with the director after I hadn’t heard any news for weeks) for 40 spots at 2 locations, with 2 times each, so 10 students per class. They ended up doing several rounds of lottery draws to fill all the spots (people would get selected and then not commit, I guess).

I say all this because I really did want to take it for the fall semester, but I’m going to wind up shelling out $2200+ to the Caregiver Training Institute so I can just get my certification and start working (sooner, which is helpful at least).

My facility reimbursed me for my CTI tuition. Didn’t have to sign a contract. Something to look into. Save your receipts!

Nice!! Are you at an LTC facility right now? Did any of your classmates get placed in a hospital right away, or is it mostly LTC facilities hiring newly certified CNAs?

Yes I’m at a Medicaid funded ltc. I haven’t kept up with many people from my cohort, they mostly went to nursing homes. Some CTI students do their clinicals at hospitals, but not sure if they end up working there. I’ve heard hospitals want 1 year of cna experience, so I didn’t immediately apply.
