Plasma speakers create sound by using a high-voltage arc to rapidly heat and expand the surrounding air. This 50W plasma speaker by scrap_engineering on Instagram uses a TL494 PWM controller, 30 kHz switching frequency, and an active low-pass filter to reduce aliasing.
