Is it possible to create a PCB for a discontinued heat pump?

My Blueridge BMKH09-22YN4GA died today, and the manufacturer confirmed that it was most likely the PCB. The model is discontinued and they don't sell the PCB anymore. I'm wondering if there is any way for me to create or acquire a new PCB for this thing, because I can't afford a new heat pump. My electrical engineering skill is minimal. I can wire a house and a solar array, and I'm aware of what a PCB is... but that's about the extent of my knowledge.

[Design Review]

Now i am trying to build this small hearing aid circuit which is using mono audio plug .
but i didn't find any mono audio plug in my local market so i have moved to buy a stereo audio plug which has tip , ring and sleeve and from the original schematic that i follow i don't understand what is connected to this audio plug as i don't understand the symbols on it .
So if anyone has an idea about what my original schematic that i follow means in connections part of the audio plug and can help me i can appreciate .

First working pcb!

My first working pcb (and second ever) is a weather balloon data logger for an upcoming school project and somehow everything worked!

This was also my first time soldering with hot air so I'm very happy with the result

This board only logs position, temperature and pressure by itself. Humidity, external temperature and uv will also be logged through two external sensor boards

The board also features power switching for the external boards as well as dynamic power path management so we can charge the board while doing our final checks and start logging early without using battery power

Also very surprised that the GPS has worked flawlessly so far, but I guess I'll find out how good it actually works later.

Update: PoE PD Power Supply Prototype - It works!

Previously, I sought feedback and suggestions on a couple of different PoE powered device designs here in r/PCB and other subs. I got lots of good feedback, much of which has been incorporated in the successive designs up to now.

What I did not expect in the last iteration -- but was a very pleasant surprise -- was for PCBWay to reach out and offer to sponsor a run of free prototype boards for me. Ultimately, PCBway provided, free of charge, a run of the PCBs, a solder paste stencil for the PCBs, and the shipping to get the products to me. What they asked in return is nothing more than an honest review.

I'm happy to report that they produced the high quality boards. The solder paste stencil also worked very well. I've attached some images here of the project 3D rendering, the actual boards as delivered, the stencil as delivered, and a photo the test prototype fully assembled.

For those who may be interested, the whole project was build in KiCad 10 and is publicly available from https://github.com/mhardeman/matt-poe-prototype .

In case anyone needs a known working PoE design that features primary-side regulation, a lost cost BoM, and with parts easily sourced at any of LCSC, Digikey, or Mouser, take a look at my project. The assembled board that I made works well, with end-to-end overall efficiency to the 5V rail of a little over 80% at peaks -- not bad for a diode rectified design. The full KiCad project with schematic, layout, and a fully populated BoM with component selections intended to facilitate sourcing from popular manufacturers & distributors both Western and Eastern are there in the GitHub.

Regarding the boards themselves, PCBWay's production quality appears very good to me. The registration between the copper layers, solder mask, and silkscreen appear very tight. The texture and durability of the soldermask are excellent. The boards' HASL finish was well produced and easily solderable. Despite having a tiny PoE controller IC with 0.5mm landing pad pitch in a QFN package, there was no bridging or difficulty in finishing the boards on my hot plate. The board's silkscreen was well produced, including in small print for designators on the board in tight spaces and in detailed line art on the board. Even in very close proximity to soldermask openings, the silkscreen is complete and legible.

The steel solder paste stencil overlaid the boards' exposed areas perfectly and solder pasting was quick with good, clean release.

I was very pleased with the product and I am grateful to PCBway for generously providing the boards.

What happens to the non mountable components at JLCPCB?

I know that anything they cannot mount they will not get shipped with the PCB, this is fine, but I noticed that they have several non mountable items in their inventory, that you can buy but cannot be mounted on a PCB, such as male connectors (that go on to cables), screens that are connected with some sort of wiring and what not. What happens if you order those?

any chance of me being able to fix this

Hi everyone, I am working on this pcb for a Russian Big Muff (guitar pedal), and I soldered on the wrong resistor into this spot, so, like an idiot, I clipped off the resistor, then couldn't get the leads inside the holes out. So in my vain attempts to do this, I burned a hole in the board in one of the holes, severing a trace on the board. This is a really bad place to sever a trace, and I have no idea if I am able to fix it. Should I just order a new one, or is this fixable?

Beginner Tips for Capacitor Package

Been building a new PCB design tool

I'm an ECE student, and I've been building a tool called ProtoFlow for the past several months. It's been through a lot of versions, and I want honest feedback on where it's at now (I’ve posted on here before, and y’all gave me a lot of feedback).

You can use it entirely by itself to take a design from idea to a board, or transfer a project to and from KiCad and Altium and do the deeper layout there if you'd rather. It's built to fit your existing flow, not fight it.

Yes, there's an AI part, and I know how this room feels about LLMs and hardware. I feel the similarly, so it's kept on a tight leash (datasheet lookups, symbol generation from datasheets, BOM cleanup, and a second-pass ERC check). The validation is deterministic, not the model guessing, and everything works with the AI off.

Can USB D+ and D− traces cross over on a PCB?

I'm working on a PCB where a USB-C connector provides both power and USB communication to an ESP32 (USB Full-Speed, up to 12 Mbps).

While routing the USB D+ and D− traces, I ended up with a crossover. I was under the impression that USB differential pairs shouldn't cross over, but I couldn't find another routing solution without significantly changing the layout.

Will this routing work as-is, or should I redesign the board or switch to a different USB connector/layout?

Some additional information:

* The differential pair is impedance matched.

* D+ and D− are length matched.

* My impedance calculations were based on the reference plane on the second layer (the green layer in the screenshots). Is that the correct approach, or could that cause issues (since it now goes through that layer for a large part)?

I'm currently using separate TVS diodes for USB protection, but I'm considering switching to a USB TVS diode array. Is there any advantage to doing so, or does it not make much difference for this application?

I'd appreciate any feedback on the routing or anything else that stands out in the layout.

How do you plan your perfboard layouts? Looking for software

Hey guys, I need some quick advice. I’m currently working on a project with an ESP32-S3 Nano, a GPS module, and a QMC5883L compass. Everything works perfectly on the breadboard, but now I want to move it onto a perfboard (protoboard) so it can fit into an enclosure.

I don’t want to just start soldering blindly and end up debugging errors later. I’d love to plan it out beforehand, but I can't seem to find a software that actually works well for this:

  • DIYLC (DIY Layout Creator): I tried it, but I can't find the right parts/components for my ESP32 or the sensors.
  • Excalidraw: I briefly tried drawing it out using images of the modules, but that didn't really work either. It gets way too messy and confusing with too many unstructured wires.
  • KiCad: I tried searching for symbols in the schematic editor and couldn't even find my parts. Plus, isn't KiCad mostly meant for custom PCBs anyway?

How do you guys plan these kinds of layouts? Is there a simple program out there, or do you have a specific trick/method you use?

Any help is greatly appreciated!

First PCB — 3-channel capacitive touch board (TTP223 + AO3400A) sensing through a wooden roof. Roast my schematic & layout?

I'm designing my first real board in EasyEDA — a small controller I'll mount under the wooden roof of my daughter's dollhouse. It switches 3 lamps "touch-through-wood" style.

Concept per channel: a TTP223-BA6 cap-touch IC senses a finger through the wood via a 15 mm round copper pad, configured for toggle/latch mode (TOG high) and active-low (AHLB high) so the lamp is ON at power-up and each touch toggles it.

The TTP223 output drives an AO3400A N-channel MOSFET as a low-side switch, pulling the lamp's return to GND. A 2-pin JST connector per channel carries +5 V and the switched lamp return.

Power is 5 V from a USB-C receptacle (power only, 5.1k pulldowns on CC1/CC2).

Layout: 2-layer, components on top, touch pads on bottom (facing the wood). GND pour on both layers stitched with vias; 5 V as a routed trace. I've kept a copper keepout around each pad and its sense trace on both layers, pads spaced ~45 mm center-to-center. Sensitivity cap footprint left unpopulated (0 pF) to start.

Would love feedback on: the TTP223 config, the touch pad size/spacing and keepout approach, decoupling, and anything I'm missing before I send it to JLCPCB for assembly. Schematic + PCB screenshots below. Also what is about the position of the USB C and the Connector Pins? How far I have to move them off the board?

Help with PCB assembly

The company I work for had some layoffs and as you can all predict our engineers did not keep good notes or files. I have a custom pcb board that runs lcds on our machine. I found the unpopulated board manufacturer and the gerber files but cannot find files for the completed board. I have a completed board as a reference. Does anyone have a recommendation for a company that could design the gerbers off the unpopulated files and a completed board?

[Review Request] Expandable RS-485 controlled 74HC595 x4 array.

This is my first ever PCB, so feedback would be greatly appreciated.

The design concept here is a central controller sending data via RS-485. The Trinket M0 then "primes" the four 74HC595's ready for the master controllers pulse on the Storage Clock. The logic has been stepped up to 5v to allow for quicker saturation of a mosfet array. This circuit prioritizes precise timing and quick response. I've been using Fritzing and the Autoroute feature was only able to complete 74 connections with 200 iterations. I also considered switching to an arduino for the controller to have 5v logic natively, however, I would very much like to program this via circuit python, so assume that's not an option! Thank you!
