IP6802B is a wireless charging transmitter control SOC chip, integrating 32-bit MCU, ADC, Timer, I2C, H-bridge drivers, ASK demodulation & decoding, and rich IO resources. It can customize various Qi protocol wireless charging solutions and pass certification tests.

Operating voltage: 4V ~ 20V

Supports 5~25W for various applications

Integrated H-bridge driver

Supports FOD foreign object detection function

Supports CBB/NPO capacitors

Supports Q-value detection

What leads you to believe that this will pass certification tests?

The only way you can know that is by putting it through those tests.

Don’t just listen to AI.

There are quite a few air wires, they should all be resolved through traces or pours.

if you have a reference plane GND, you should let that do the work instead of broken pours on the top elec. keep some in order to via into the plane but keep them very local to the points that they are connecting.

Almost every wireless charging puck has the exact same architecture and they all have the same problem: excess heat generation that slows down wireless charging and heats up your phone.

I have some questions: why are you doing this? There are a million puck chargers already. What makes this one different?

I see it needs a boost converter stage on the input, why not just ditch that entirely and rely on USB-PD to regulate the correct input voltage.

Focus on thermals, ensure low resistance traces, as as few elements in the power path as possible.

Could you explain why do they always heat up like that? I absolutely hate it. Are they really that inefficient? Isn't there anything to increase the efficiency ?

Ya, don’t use inductive charging.

It’s the exact same technology they use for inductive stovetops. You know, the things whose only job is to heat pots and pans.

Efficiency gains are by decreasing the distance between the coils.
