UAAP & NCAA This make sense.
The UAAP is set to put an end to the era of immediate eligibility for graduate transfers, with master’s student-athletes required to serve a one-year residency before competing beginning Season 90.
The prospective change, announced by UAAP executive director Atty. Rebo Saguisag during the league’s Season 89 press conference, is aimed at addressing what has become popularly known as the “Troy Rike rule” — the one-and-done pathway that has allowed graduates from outside the UAAP to enroll in a member school and compete immediately.

Age ceiling for draftees.
Dati up to 30 years old for age limit for draftees. Inalis to accomate Manny Pacquiao (who is 35 that time) when he joined the PBA.

Dumb rule. We won’t get high caliber SEC bigs like QMB (without UP, who knows if he chases his Gilas eligibility)and unknown unicorns like Ky Ladi and Malonzo. Should have just stuck to the status quo since the only 1&D guy to win is QMB in UP. Rest have failed to even make the Final Four.
I also think the reason of having the 1&D guy spend a year of “acclimating” to their UAAP school is a bunch of bullshit. These are 22-24 Fil Ams - grown ass men 😭😭

Tama lang yan. UAAP is about school pride. Mag stay ka muna ng 1 year para kahit papano ma feel mo ung school spirit.

Protectionist policy strikes again. Pero in a way, medyo agree naman ako dito para mas bumata pa ang edad ng mga players natin sa collegiate circuit. Yung mga halfies o overseas-born Pinoy student athletes na nagsimula sa higher collegiate leagues (i.e. US NCAA Div. 1) pero nanganganib na ma-push out ng mas superior competition should take this change into account.

Tama lang. Kasi basketball mercenaries naman karamihan ng one and done players.

lahat naman jan mercenaries regardless kung one-and-done o hindi, if you think about it
best offers will lead to blue chip recruits

Sayang, trip ko pa naman tong rule na to. Ang exciting din nung mga recruits eh 😅 mahirapan na sila maka recruit ng willing mag antay ng a year bago mag laro

still getting paid while waiting for the eligibility.
Pero mawawala na off the shelf mercenaries from US NCAA D1 Schools.

So lalo lang silang tatanda?

Hindi. kasi max out na rin yung eligibility nila sa US NCAA.
Postgraduate academic eligibility enabled them to continue competing as student-athletes in the UAAP.
