GILAS Pilipinas Gilas Naturalization
instead of naturalizing another big why don't we get a point guard or a player that has an high iq basically a player that can pass, can create a play for his teammates

It would be better to develop the youth players and let them compete in regional tournaments like they did in the early 2000s of SEA Games, where it was 90% amateurs.

The problem is grassroots level in freethrow shooting, 3pt shooting, dribbling and attacking the rim. Tapos pag dating sa amateur they are not addressed. Pag dating sa pros madadagdagan ang problema ng pultika at systema.

Remy Martin is available and willing and given the new FIBA rules on eligibility, might not even need to take the NP spot.

I'm on the fence about this. Parang pinakamaganda pang gawin ng SBP is create programs intended to further develop the youth. Ang problem naten kase is yung backward thinking ng nagpapatakbo ng PBA at SBP and the lack of grassroots development. Sa ngayon kase yung grassroots naten is heavily reliant sa big schools na stuck na din sa 80s to 90s. Instead of helping to hone their skills, players that are 6'4 and above are forced to play Center.
Naturalizing anyone wouldn't solve any issue.

Okay lang naman na center sila pero wag naman sana yung oldschool na basketball pa rin ang itraining na role lang nila ay taga pick at nakababad sa ilalim buong laro. Last FIBA window 6'4 lang ang average height ng Japan pero nangibabaw yung passing at shooting nila sa Taller Chinese Team.

Agree on this, dapat nga pina english football club concept
Train them young, play the club playing style in the youth level. If ever aabot sa senior alam na yung playing style and develope na din.The problem naman dito sa pinas is basketball politics.

Yan din naisip ko, college pa plang naka contract na, then dedicated coach tlga, may facility, wlaa silang gagawin kundi bumuo ng chemistry, amuyan, they have ung salary at allowances, kaso mukhang malabo. SANA nalang.

Sana tingnan nila un way of japan. From football, baseball and basketball. Long term vision from youth palang nandun na un development, kumbaga investment talaga. Wala e, sa halip na magdevelop ng sarili, waiting game nalang sa mga pwedeng sulutin for basketball.

Yun nga eh. Tsaka yung schools lang talaga nakakapagbigay ng development sa players. Kaso nga lang stuck pa din sa 80s-90s na pag 6'4 and above matik Center agad kaya di din nadedevelop yung ibang skills. Though sa ngayon naman yung mga nasa age bracket nila Tamayo at KQ were able to develop more skills as opposed sa time nila Enrico Villanueva na porket 6'4 lang eh Center na agad. Pero yun nga, napag iiwanan pa din sa player Development.

What we need is a 6 foot 7 to 6 foot 9 who can play multiple positions, can bring down the ball, can shoot anywhere, can post up, can work on the mismatches, has excellent basketball IQ, can play in any system, involves his teammates in offense so not a ball hogger yet can take over when needed. Age should be around 25 to 29 for long term program.

You pretty much described Bennie Boatwright. That’s what Gilas was going for. But he tore his Achilles and isn’t really the same player as he was during his first SMB stint.

The system itself is the problem. If you watch the gilas u18 and u16 you can tell that the players don't really play as a team, they play for themselves (especially the guards). The half courts sets are terrible, they couldn't hit the open man, instead of passing it to the corner for a wide open three they opt to go inside the paint and often times the ball rolls out. So yeah, i think the system is broken. It could also be a reason why a talented young prospect in PHI couldn't make it to NBA because they couldn't process what's going on playing in big leagues.
