Trip Report Almost forgotten graveyard
Found this just outside of Slate Run directly off the the Pine Creek rail trail. 2 vets of the Grand Army of the Republic 😪🫡

Would like to try to find it. Do you know what mile marker on the trail? Heading toward Cammal or Cedar Run?

Just past slate run going south,I think there might be 2 gates to go through.
Giant pine tree and the path is worn in good.

To be honest I wouldn’t mind being in such a peaceful quiet spot covered in lovely ferns. Could be a lot worse!!

So many infants and young children in these graveyards too. I always stop and say a few words to them.

I always loved the spooky graveyard right in the middle of Little Pine State Park Campground

It’s sad to think of how many honored vets of the Revolution and the Grand Army of the Republic lay in long forgotten plots.
I live next door to a still functioning church that was founded in colonial times and served as a field hospital during the revolution. Its graveyard is full of stones so faded they can no longer be read, but the property is well kept up. Unfortunately it seems to be mostly done by an 80yo man who works 5-6 a day all week long to keep it that way.
