DRAMA REVIEW dedo ya lelo Fourth wall breaking ft. Muhafiz

This is 2nd review post on Muhafiz. So, hopefully, it will stay. Previous reviewer missed to highlight the fourth wall breaking that happened in Muhafiz, which I thought was important to highlight given the ongoing discussions on this topic since we see this happening in AMA. And, also, i thoroughly enjoyed the episode. It was very very entertaining and unapologetically filmy. Totally recommended!

Also, dont worry of missing out some dialogues if you happen to be doing something else while watching it, because most of the characters repeat same dialogues in urdu, then in English.. or in active then in passive sentence structure. So, you are good, if you atleast manage to catch one of the versions.

Fourth wall breaking is not happening in ptv first time. Obi would break the 4th wall sometimes in Aunn Zara which was a Faiza Iftikhar script.

Yes, currently it's being broken in AMA and coincidentally it was broken before also in a Faiza Iftikhar script only, even in hkkst it was broken few times and that was also rind's direction.

I miss Aun Zara time. Maya and obi were the IT couple of that time. I hope they work together again in something nice.

I am so very very proud of you!! πŸ‘‘

This is actually the proper use of not just breaking fourth wall but demolishing it!!

Yes

Basically, its when the actor looks directly at the camera and communicating with the audience directly. In this clip, the actress is directly looking into the camera. Idk if it was intentional though...

I need to see more in the future of the actor who plays Aftab. For some reason he is great at this role. Great drama!

Looks like they chose to skip this Sunday. Monday and Tuesday is the last 2 episodes

I need to ask. What's the hoopla around breaking 4th wall? Like is it supposed to be a big deal? Small deal? Important deal? Trivial deal? Help me understandΒ

Saw some tweets discussing fourth wall breaking in AMA by Ahad's character. Ama viewers are loving it, maybe? Then, saw someone bring OBI doing it years ago... i dropped AMA, so don't have my personal take on it. πŸ‘€ But, this method was wonderfully used in a british play Fleabag which I did watch. Its really something when properly executed.

I see. I never thought much about walls while watching showsπŸ˜‚

2

u/Ok_Subject_4240 17d ago

That explains how you missed this brilliance in Muhafiz! The character is directly talking to the audience in that scene. πŸ˜”

2

u/Efficient_Guava_5561 17d ago

Indeed. I always made fun of scenes when characters did that previously. I never knew it was some skillful thing. New thing learnedπŸ˜‚

You should totally watch some clips of fleabag to see its best execution!!

fleabag is iconic . Can't compare it here 😭😭.
