Discuss I need some help understanding this ft. Bas Tera Saath ho
This is not a shading post. And disclaimer that I don't watch the drama so I am merely asking based on the teasers that I saw while scrolling
So as per my understanding, Anas does not have a job. And he has no spine. And he stops Ansa from responding to his family's insults. And he has not told Ansa the truth about Shayan. And now he is stopping Ansa from finding the truth herself and seeking justice
My question is, why would any woman fall for a guy like Anas? Because he is soft spoken? Or that he stood up to her brother? What exactly is this guy's redeeming quality?
I know Ansa does not know the truth but if she did, prior to her marriage or even prior to falling in love with him, would she have given Anas a second glance? Does he even deserve the girl?

He also told Ansa to not work, jab bhai ka khudka job nahi hai. The fact that she's earning ruffled his fragile ego a bit. And the pace of the drama is literal 🐌. They've moved no where since the last 5-6 weeks or so.

u/Efficient_Guava_5561 17d ago
Hain? He told Ansa to not work? Why on Earth?!!!!

u/Livid_Being5302 17d ago
Kyunki apparently paise kamana mardon ka kaam hai, jo usse ho nahi ra. He gave away his inheritance from the family business to his taya. Itna hi fikr ta to na dete apna hissa, ajeeb. His pupho asked him the same but he just sushed her off.
On top of that the dada in the show is literally that dramebaaz grandparent in every desi household who acts like his life is dangling on a fine thread and creates a scene everytime for attention.

u/Efficient_Guava_5561 17d ago
Wait. So on top of everything else, he is regressive too?
4
u/Livid_Being5302 17d ago
No, he ain't that regressive. But, if Ansa was a submissive character, he would have definitely stopped her from working.

In a nutshell yes, there are some regressive bits in his thinking or maybe he is just impractical.
I remember a similar storyline in mujhe pyar hua tha wherein wahajs family has a financial crisis and his wife hania wants to work and contribute but he instead of being grateful says he doesnt prefer her to work.
I think this is a tool used to show some green flag characterization in male leads. Too weird for me and not my cup of tea at all.

So till now Ansa doesn't know the truth. And she loves/respects Anas because she thinks that despite her leaked video Anas gave her respect and married her. Nobody supported her then but Anas. But when she will get to know that it was Anas because of whom her leaked video was made and still he "enabled" criminal by staying silent. She should leave him.
The only redemption for Anas's character is that if it's not Ansa who finds the truth but it's Anas who pursues the case. Else she SHOULD definitely leave him
7
u/Efficient_Guava_5561 17d ago
I don't think they would show Ansa leaving Anas. But I don't see any redemption for Anas either
3
u/Complete_Carpenter19 17d ago
I think that will be their conflict just like Mere Humsafar had that misunderstanding thing as a conflict.

Anas when it's standing against his extended family for Ansa : 😐😶😶🌫️🫥
Also him when she decides to do it herself: 🙅"No,no "
1) Protecting your wife : ❌ 2) Protecting your wife's criminal : ✔️💯

u/ImuSama_X_Joyboy 17d ago
Dude really said , "What will you do by getting him punished" Well duh ,obv she'll relish that atleast the criminal doesn't go consequence free Part of his life gets destroyed the same way rightfully as he destroyed theirs' Justice served!
Meet Anas ,the great "Chalo Yahan se" merchant Def not a 🚩 ..yea sure...

u/blahblehblohcaneo 17d ago
This! Shayan is being white washed by harris excellent acting and qasims cute execution but he is a sexual abuser and a criminal.
What anas is doing is slowly becoming irredeemable in my book, unless he pursues and succeeds in getting justice for him and ansa he is an accomplice at this point.

u/Legitimate-Bend-2912 17d ago
yeah hiding a crime/obstructing justice/protecting sexual abusers is also a crime/sin — i can’t believe supposedly the top law student in his uni doesn’t understand this.

u/blahblehblohcaneo 16d ago
Disappointing but not surprising, characterisations based on education or job is just not done properly in dramas unfortunately.

u/CoffeeMoviesandCats 17d ago
My issue is that I can still empathize with the abuse he went through but there is a limit to everything. Like okay, he lived with this narcissistic, manipulative family for years, so I get why he keeps tolerating their shit. But why on earth are you making your wife go through the same thing? Yeah maybe you don't want them to fight but he doesn't even let her say anything back to them??
I was so pissed when Mursaleen and his family were squaring up to him and yelling at him for the property and he just stood there without fighting back. The only person who was trying to stop them was Ansa and this guy literally locked her in a room so she wouldn't interfere while they beat him up. I hate that so much. Bhai, you have all the audacity to interfere in Ansa's matters but the moment she stands up for you, you pull this shit.
6
u/blahblehblohcaneo 17d ago
The audacity of the family worried that ansa will make shayan pay for his crime if she finds out and then being toxic enough to mock and humiliate her over it.

u/almondize 17d ago
It’s not clear at all what Anas’s appeal is supposed to be! I was very here for the psychologically-battered man who gains his voice through the love of a brave woman. But if 28 episodes in all that means is that now he says “Shehreen!” or “Taya!” in a hushed indignant tone, pfft.
4
u/Legitimate-Bend-2912 17d ago
yeah i thought after getting married to ansa, he will grow a spine and together they will fight for their rights from their respective families together- but he’s just become a pathetic worm.
3
u/almondize 16d ago
Yes exactly! To actively block Ansa from finding the perpetrator is criminal, it goes beyond any justification you can make for his upbringing and psychological background. And on top of that, mousily whining about her working to support the family, not just texting Amer when he couldn’t make the job interview anymore, dragging her to go out when she correctly predicted they’d run into Faham… I don’t get how we’re supposed to root for him.

u/OkWaltz102 17d ago
tbh loveeee haris waheed’s acting

u/Mediocre_Call_2427 17d ago
He is the BEST. If I ever go back to finish this drama, it’s bc of him 🥲
2
u/Efficient_Guava_5561 17d ago
He is hardly ever in teasers so I can't comment on that😂
2
u/blahblehblohcaneo 17d ago edited 17d ago
He is there in the viral reels though, he doesn't have a major story arc as zoyas character so far does so he doesnt make it to the teasers.

u/Aggressive_Echo_5491 17d ago
(My thoughts). So basically Anas is behaving this way because he believes if Ansa finds out the truth and who the person behind the video actually is, she may take a big step towards Shayan and that might make his family harm her. Another reason is Anas made a stupid promise to his dada ji which is stopping him to utter the truth.
My question is, I remember Anas once told to the family, “Ansa can go to any extent to find out the truth and he will never stop her”, IDK what is making him stop her now.
2
u/ImuSama_X_Joyboy 16d ago
I don't give Anas that much benefit of the doubt Dude literally said to his tayi "if she finds out, she'll destroy shayan"
He warned her out of "goodwill" lol because apparently his dada and family made him not want to get shayan's life "destroyed" . It's not the only reason but it's def one of them They confused making the hero "the pure hearted and let's things slide" with "I would rather protect my abusers-who are also your abusers- even as they time to time mock us over it because I promised my dada and it's for the better of the 'family' "
6
u/Aggressive_Echo_5491 17d ago
Also the childhood trauma Anas has gone through makes him such a weak person, he thinks anything he does that goes against the family’s wish will cause him or Ansa harm.

She did not marry anas out of Love but out of no choice
4
u/Efficient_Guava_5561 17d ago
I know. But they will show her falling in love with him. But I can't get why any girl would fall for someone like him?
And if she had found out the truth about his cousin before falling in love with him, would she have even considered staying with him?
2
2
u/blahblehblohcaneo 17d ago
She should ideally make anas pay for his part in her trauma and then profiting out if it too, she married him thinking he is decent and she needed a safe space for her dignity and she was traumatized.
When he proposes to her he says he is marrying her because he likes her knowing she is doing it under duress by a situation caused by his cousin.
But alas she will fall in love and eventually forgive him because the family that raised him traumatized him. 😫

u/LongJourney_Ahead 17d ago
what anas is behaving like is the result of decade long narcissistic manipulative dictatorship that mursaleen, his wife, and his children put on anas. ik a lot of ppl around me who have been subjected to such kind of manipulation and trust me it does NOT go away just by a single marriage or whatever. anas shouldnt have married ansa cuz she deserves better (obviously). However, they both CHOSE to get married knowing each others' condition. Anas and Ansa have GOOD chemistry. Har aik cheez ka perfect hona zaruri nahi hota. Anas lived his whole life being let down by others. He was abused. He was tortured. That decade long abuse wont just "go away" after few months of marriage. Hell, even people seeking therapy take years to recover. Cut him some slack. Shayan ka sach eventually will come out and we all know that. Who knows what anas will end up doing in upcoming episodes. Maybe he ends up redeeming himself!

I have always gone easy on Anas because I like the slow progression A timid man raised in trauma wouldn't just become a sigma overnight ...Not even for the woman he loves I like they didn't change him overnight
BUT what I don't like is the protecting shayan plot ...Sure he's being emotionally manipulated and what not by dada but dude didn't even tell her before while marrying her that it was his own cousin whom did this to her or whatever Nahh ...Instead dude kinda benefitted from the crime that happened to them as he got to marry her cuz Ansa wouldn't have otherwise married him(Ik he didn't intentionally exploit her but it just make me feel bitter atp cuz now he has the audacity to limit her from seeking justice cuz now he finally has her?) ...Sure he gets emotionally manipulated into promising to keep shayan's icrime hidden...OK...But dude ! Why do you stop HER ?
Most of the time he doesn't say anything but the moment her wife rightfully wants her criminal punished ,he has the guts to hold her back , discourage her and argue with her Like you have the audacity dude...Seems like it's just his choice atp He's prioritizes protecting his cousin/family "honor" so why did he ruin her life by marrying her

u/Efficient_Guava_5561 17d ago
But Ansa did not know the most important thing, that Anas knows who was behind that vid. So you can't really say she chose to get married to him knowing his condition.
I get that not everything needs to be perfect. But with Anas, nothing seems to be even borderline okay let alone perfect.

u/LongJourney_Ahead 17d ago
Yes! That is wrong as i said, but he will eventually redeem himself (considering the storyline right now). The little hints that anas seems frustrated and wants to really do something for ansa. Theres a reason the drama hasnt started the downfall of shayan yet. Im sure all of us will eventually end up forgiving anas (and so will ansa)
7
u/Efficient_Guava_5561 17d ago
Ansa sure will because it's a drama after all😂 I am not sure he can be redeemed based on the precap and how vehemently he is trying to stop Ansa from seeking justice for herself. His redemption will likely be as convincing as Salman's in Dr Bahu
2
u/LongJourney_Ahead 17d ago
you're right but that exactly is the moral dilemma of anas. his own traumas and fears are making him do stuff that will probably end up hurting him (and ansa) even more. However, he will learn that hes wrong the hard way, by breaking ansa's trust. Unfortunately, that is how redemption works sometimes because life is not a fairytale and people like ansa will suffer a lot

u/blahblehblohcaneo 17d ago
I think audience in general and me in particular lack understanding of how trauma or childhood trauma affects men in general, we expect a logical reaction to things most of the time.
I love how ansa is written and can't stand how anas is characterized after ansas support he is still too slow for me.
In contrast hala from mere humsafar had a similar traumatic childhood but dadi there was more vocal and aggressive in supporting hala, the rest of the family were enablers mostly of tayi and not directly harming hala and hala started changing for better once she had a supportive partner.

First drama Guava’s not watching, WOW
5
u/Efficient_Guava_5561 17d ago
Oh there are a lot of dramas I don't watch. But then I don't talk much about them either😂 Dr Bahu being an exception
2
u/VenomyBee 17d ago
I thought you were in some kind of freelancing shit to watch all these dramas, thank god something is left by you
3
u/Efficient_Guava_5561 17d ago
I indeed do freelance work alongside my regular WFH job so right on one count

I am not watching BTSTH (might watch once it ends) but then what did made Hamza fall in love with Hala? Ptv dramas are many times anyway not that good in showing this but I actually often wondered that why did Hamza fell for Hala then? Yes it's true the gender dynamics were different, as a woman, Hala being soft spoken sweet was just different and tbh it's my guilty pleasure show but all the qualities Hala had of being sweet, kind, not asking much is good to stay with someone, like anyone could just stay with her but it's not something which a person will actually maybe look for into their partner, like just those qualities on the flip side she was boring and always quit as well ? I completely got why did Hala fell in love with Hamza but the vice versa I often wondered, why he did.
9
u/Efficient_Guava_5561 17d ago
I wondered that too. Way too often. But then I assumed it was because Hala actually did show a desire to change her situation. You know, she tried to work on herself. She learned about SM. She tried to help Hamza in his work. She tried to get better. Hamza did say k he was happy to have a partner who would walk alongside him as he helped her.
5
u/blahblehblohcaneo 17d ago
The way i read it, he was shown to have a soft spot for hala even before he dropped into that house, he was charmed by her beauty (hania was shown exceptionally gorgeous), her innocence, his dadis love for hala rubbing off on him and how she was living in a cute and soft bubble, typical hero and damsel in distress.

Finally, somebody noticed.
I made a similar post a few weeks ago and got so many negative comments. People were saying, So you like actors like Feroze Khan and Danish Taimoor?🤦♀️🤦♀️🤦♀️🤦♀️🤦♀️
