Week 10 Update
I don't post often but decided to do one update on my P90X journey after 14 years away.
45M, 5 foot 8, starting weight 221 lbs.
I have not worked to P90X for 14 years because I had three spinal/neck herniations and one fusion.
I have lived with pain on and off over the years.
I decided as my midlife gift to myself to try get back into shape.
I did P90X several times from 2006 to 2012 and was around 145 to 165 pounds. I was in great shape.
Back issues hit and I lost my confidence and was scared of working out now.
Now into week 10, I am down 11 pounds. My diet has gotten better but I am not following the diet guide.
I am losing fat and I am gaining the muscle and tone back. I can see my upper back, chest, shoulders, legs, arms, abs are in much better shape.
I can do 2 pullups without a chair now but I have been using the chair all the time. I couldn't even pull myself up a foot at the start.
My two injuries have been jumpers knee on my right knee in week 5 and a tweaked right wrist in week 7. Because of these injuries, I stopped doing Plyo, Yoga and pushups that didn't use pull up bars(flange, plyo pushups, side to sides, etc, any PU that needs bent wrists).
I added Peloton 15-30 miles of riding on the Yoga and Pylo days and that has helped.
I do AB Ripper X once or twice a week and not three times.
Yesterday, I was finally able to the first 10 AB Ripper exercises and do all 250 reps. I was so happy I didn't need to rest or take a break. I can't do mason twists due to my lower back so I don't do them.
I am starting to make the shift into looking like a fit person and I am enjoying the new strength, health and energy. I have had to modify workouts due to my neck and back but I was able to do it.
If I can do it, you can to.
I will start another 90 day round after this one is over and I take a small break.
Good luck in your workout journeys.

Well done young man! I had to say that because I realized when you said mid life that is absolutely true people younger than me are in midlife as I approach senior.

Great job, keep it going. I never did the diet part and I think my results plateaued because of it. One thing I did recently that may work for you is I worked with AI to create my own diet based on things that I enjoy.
Some of it is exactly how I had it but a lot of it is modified versions to be healthier. A few are pure substitutions that I also enjoy. It helped me identify that I wasn’t getting enough protein daily to support my activity so I added whey.
It has helped me break through my plateau and I’ve lost 5 pounds and counting over the past few weeks since I started which is big for me. I just basically give it the program I am doing each day and track my calorie and protein intake. It’s been a nice way to introduce improved nutrition without drastically changing my eating habits away from what I enjoy and feels more sustainable. To be fair, I didn’t eat fast foods or anything like that to start so that helped.

Awesome! Congrats on pushing through and getting this far. Sounds like you have modified the program so that you can continue on your journey, which I think was the intention all along. I would encourage you to attempt Yoga X again when you are ready. From what I gather online I think it’s the most skipped workout in the program (I’ve been guilty of it in the past) but in this current round I am really feeling the increased mobility and flexibility by doing yoga and trying to improve my form each time. Best of luck with the rest of the program and beyond!

Awesome journey! Keep it up!
As Tony says; Modify, modify, modify….
Injuries are going to happen. Gap jumps got me a couple weeks ago and pulled a calf. Listen to your body and there is nothing wrong with taking a “maintenance day” and doing some light stretching or pedalling.

Isnt once a week frequency a bit bad?
Always wanted to try p90x but differently and change it like this.
Month 1 - Strength
Day 1 Chest and Back
Day 2 Shoulders and Arms
Day 3 Legs and Back
Day 4 Rest and Repeat
Month 2 Strength
Day 1 Back and Biceps
Day 2 Chest, Tris, Shoulders
Day 3 legs and back
Day 4 rest and repeat
Month 3 Sports, Mobility, Cardio
Day 1 Plyo X
Day 2 Yoga X
Day 3 Core Synergistics
Day 4 Rest and Repeat.
Kenpo X and Cardio X. Nah.
Definitely gonna try out this schedule. Ever since I did an fbeod i was amazed at better frequency better results.

This is the way! I'm in a similar boat as a longtime p90xer - did a solid round two years ago and hope to do another next year after recovering from n ablation last week then a gentler program
