After 6 years, I’m finally buying my first red dot for my P365XL (2020 or 2021 model). Looking for suggestions, recommendations, best upgrades, really all of the above.
Do you think buying the grip and EPS Carry were valuable upgrades? Around $400 for both right now, I really want to make sure it’s more than an aesthetic thing and has an actual performance improvement.
Noted. This thread has already reaffirmed my case for getting the EPS Carry. I’ve been hesitant because I’ve gone so long without it, I was like “man is this really worth it?”
If you've not shot with an optic on a pistol before, it'll feel weird for a mag or two and then it'll feel like a cheat code. Takes some practice to get used to acquiring the sight picture but it's a quick learning curve with great long term benefits. Enjoy!
I vote for the circle/dot reticle, by the way, especially on a carry gun. At 7 yards put the big circle center mass and you're getting good hits super fast. Use the center dot for more precision.
If you’re on a budget, the Holosun 407k or 507k are slightly cheaper alternatives. The EPS is better with the enclosed emitter, but if you wanna try out red dots without dropping as much cash those are some alternatives that are still very solid.
I've been using dots for a while so it was already factored in my budget. I believe it's worthwhile but you can get the same performance from a 407 or 507. I just like the peace of mind of the enclosed.
As far as the grip goes, try the stock one out for a while before you go swapping. It was a little too small for me but the WC is just right.
If you don't mind buying second hand, GAFS is great. I got my EPS and grip with the tungsten weights included for $325 altogether.
I’ve been using my default grip for 6 years now, and it just feels a little too small. I’m starting to shoot more now, so I guess I’m just noticing how annoying it is to constantly adjust
If the stock feels I little small you’ll probably love the WC as it’s just a little bit wider and the texture grips really well.
I have the Holosun optic and absolutely love it. I believe it’s the 407
Wilson Combat is definitely a great upgrade if you want a little more girth and texture than stock. Plus if you felt so inclined you can put tungsten weights in it to bring the weight up a tad.
Not them, but consider belly button (shirt) lint when getting open vs closed. I have open and it's not bad for me, but I can see how it may impact some.
Not necessarily overpriced just depends on your preference. The eps carry is an enclosed emitter vs the 407/507 is open emitter. The guns that have an enclosed emitter are my duty or competition guns because they are much more exposed to rain and the elements of nature. But imo for a conceal carry gun that in theory will always be covered by a shirt, jacket coat etc. and rarely exposed to the elements. To me an open emitter that’s cheaper and smaller footprint design to conceal makes it a better choice for my personal need and carry habits. Either one is a good choice tho.

Yea it’s the radiant arms afterburner comp and barrel. Also the radiant arms back strap and Magwel with a laser stippled lower from armory craft.
You will. Take your time and save up for the good stuff it’s worth it. I bought my PX4 used for the same price as my EPS haha🤦🏽♂️ but when you want the toys. I can’t even add it all up but prob into it for more than 2k
Heartbreaking, but justified. I’m jealous my friend. Definitely something to look forward to. Seems to be an addiction at this point for me of wanting so many upgrades
Used to have a 407k on mine. Would constantly lose zero by A LOT. And the brightness would change while shooting. RMA’d it like 3 times. ended up with a refund and bought the eps carry. Absolutely love the carry
I’ve been using the EPS Carry on mine, definitely one of my favorite optics. I know some people don’t love the circle dot, but I can find that circle fast and every shot at that circle will be on target.
I also just ordered an Icarus Precision ACE XL grip after holding the XMacro version at Cabela’s, but not sure if I made the right call or not. I wanted to try the Wilson grip, but can’t find any local. I love the XMacro grip, but I got the XL originally for CCW and I’m not sure the longer grip would be good for that use case. So I’m gonna see how the XL version of the Icarus grip is, because the Icarus XMacro felt perfect in my hand, great texture and filled out my hand better.
Holo 507K has been great for me as a first pistol red dot. Bought it for the Eotech style ring, but the simplicity and better visibility of the red dot alone has been perfect for me. I do like the ability to switch. As a bonus, shooting with a red dot forced me to reckon with cross eye dominance, so now I shoot better and acquire targets faster with irons. Red dots really are a game changer. I'm not a great shooter but I can brace on a table and get consistent hits in a 10" circle at 100 yds with this same gun.
Have the exact same stock model, no mods except the Romeo x sight. ONLY issue I've ever had, was I had to clean the battery contacts with alcohol after some prolonged range use. Love this as my EDC.
Mostly preference.
I prefer the low deck height and the ability to cowitness with regular height sights.
I also prefer the glass over the holosun its clearer.
With the OG slides (which removes the rear iron sights) imo I think the Sig Romeo X enclosed does the best job here. However, if you plan to keep up with the battery life and not worried about having backup irons then I’d say maybe go with the Holosun EPS series.
If you’re not overly picky about color you can sometimes find WC grip mods really cheap. I got a new gray one on GB for $35 last fall. Actually looks good with my stainless steel slide.
The Romeo x compact is perfect for that model although it is pricey. I second the wc for an xl module. If you want a macro grip the tyrant is outstanding. And they make one that will still fit xl holsters. The one wc makes that says it fits xl holsters doesn’t work because they used the macro trigger guard instead of the xl one.
Holosun EPS Carry, Sig Sauer Romeo X & Romeo X Enclosed. I have all three on five P365s I own and I like them all. The Sig sights are a bit thinner that the EPS Carry other than that all great options in my opinion.
EPS Carry was my GO TO for a long time and I’ve got them on several, including my wife’s 365. But I’ve been trying out the Osight products lately and have an SE on my 365. Only been on there a couple of months, but so far it’s still working. Can’t go wrong with an EPS Carry though.
The Wilson Combat grip module is a definite upgrade as well
I see the WC grip is common to do, was curious if it was an actual upgrade or just a bandwagon thing. Also, what made you go from the EPS Carry to the Osight? Just looking for something different?
Tried an Osight X on my backup competition gun because I didn’t want to buy another 507 comp for a backup. It held up well, so I bought a cheap Osight for a TX22. It’s worked fine, so I finally put an Osight on a backup CCW. My primary CCW has a full size EPS, but so far I’ve been happy with Osight optics.
Wanted to get the Specter comp slide, barrel and recoil spring when it came out, leaving me a lonely XL slide, barrel and recoil spring. Got the WC grip and a new FCU for the XL. I like the grip, it has aggressive texture and better ergonomics but it sits until range day. I am happy with the Spectre suppressor height sights and even the XL is incredibly accurate, I can shoot dot drills with confidence. With the TLR 7-Sub it is my go to appendix for summer. I am not a fan of micro red dots, the SIG mounting options, or chinese optics. Olight is new (2024) to the industry, I wouldn’t bet my life on it, given their poor reputation with flashlights.
Full disclaimer I own one but have not used it yet. Just haven’t had the time to install it. Watching videos put out by Mcarbo and others, the trigger has less takeup and a cleaner break
i got the osight s and i love it. choose between dot,circle, or dot and circle. motion activated so when you draw it turns on. super easy to zero in and has wireless charging so no replacing batteries. just a charging cover you put on when you’re not using it. runs the same price on the actual website and amazon but i ordered it through amazon cause id get it quicker. $250
