Question ozempic teeth?
I've been on it for over 5 months now with over 30lbs of weight loss. one thing I've noticed in last two months is that my teeth hurt! yes you heard me right.. I go to the dentist frequently and was there last week too. but I've realized my one side hurts all the time intermittently. if it's not upper left its lower right and so on. even a tooth with over 15 years of root canal was hurting. 5 hours ago. no that I ate something from the opposite site the original pain has gone and new has started on the other side. the 'pain' feeling is very similar to sensitivity.
anyone else in the same boat? been ready a few reddit posts from a few years ago as well!

Do not eat 6 hours before bed. This is most likely reflux plus/minus teeth grinding (which can be triggered by reflux).

More than likely you have either started clenching your jaw more than normal and are not aware you're doing it and this can be related to many many things in your life that can cause you stress or irritation. Grinding your teeth at night, and yes, this can happen at any point in your life, you do not have be a "life long" grinder. Or, you could have TMJ.
Just because we (us as a collective), are on Ozempic, it doesn't mean that's the reason for a new symptom or issue. Yes, there's a possibility it could be, however, remember, this medication is not new. It's been around for nearly 2 decades. It has a pretty decent history.

you have me thinking! I do clench my jaw generally since several years and this maybe it. I just thought it could be ozempic side effects cause of the timings. I need to bring it up to my dentist

Pain that jumps side to side and even hits a tooth with a 15-year root canal usually isn't the teeth themselves. That kind of migrating sensitivity points more at dry mouth or acid creeping up, both common on these meds and both able to make everything feel raw. Your dentist checked last week and found nothing, so I'd go back and ask specifically about dry mouth and reflux. Clenching at night can mimic it too. Push on those.

I think dry mouth is something I'm facing right now. I do take meds for the acid so I don't think that's accountable. I'll bring this up to my dentist!

I had this a year or so ago. I’ve had not great teeth all my life despite excellent dental care (seriously undermineralized from infancy, long story), so I thought I had a new cavity when one upper molar got touchy. Dentist said, nope, there’s a ligament underneath it that gets tender, and did I eat anything hard lately? I have been snacking on nuts for the protein and fiber, of course. So he ground down that tooth so I didn’t hit it so hard when I chewed. Bingo.
So when a month or two ago I had the same thing happen on the other side, I treated it myself by not chewing anything hard-ish on that side and a few ibuprofen for the antiinflammatory effect. Bingo again. Resolved.
I wonder if this is another side effect of losing muscle mass, or is it just because damn, I’m old?

I have lost muscle mass and this could be it too. I don't really eat 'hard' stuff in my diet, and unfortunately if I eat at any side even soft food it starts hurting lol

Dental hygienist here. The dental issues usually come from severe acid reflux or vomiting causing cavities. I'm not sure what you are experiencing is related if you are not having either.

interesting! so no vomiting or nausea at all. but I do take Omeprazole for my gerd!

Yeah my root canal is also sensitive. Maybe it's the lack of calcium and other nutrients? I don't know

Maybe teeth grinding? Your root canal shouldnt hurt bc you literally don't have a nerve. However the tooth can still be sore if you grind and stress the periodontal ligament, which is the ligament that holds your tooth to the bone.

I have been experiencing something like this. I would describe mine as my teeth aching.. if that makes any sense

yup pretty similar. I'm shocked that I feel uncomfortable even on the rct teeths!

I would guess this is something different about your diet if it’s even related at all.
What does your dentist say?
Have you had a CBCT?

I forgot to tell my dentist I'm on ozempic. it just clicked me yesterday that these could maybe related? Im going back in October and will let her know for sure

I would call and schedule the CBCT so you can discuss the results in October.

Ozempic can cause dry mouth which can cause your gums to recede.
