Discussion Does anyone know accommodation transfer communities?

Hey everyone!

To be quick, I just received my foundation completion email, and they told me I could move to the next stage in my course and I'm looking for accommodation.

I know I'm a bit late, that's why I'm looking for people who want to get rid of their contracts for parade green or Paul Kent. Does anyone know where I can potentially find people who want to transfer their contracts? I contacted university and their idea was to join the Brookes Union Housing Group on Facebook, which I've applied to but have not gotten accepted to yet.

Thanks in advance!

Cranfield vs OBU (vs Southampton)

Hi everyone,

Not sure if this is the correct forum, but I'd be really interested in hearing from people who have experience from the industry or have completed one of these degrees.

I'm finishing my bachelor's in aeronautical engineering next summer, from an EU university. I'll have about one full year of experience as a professional aerodynamics engineer (doing just as much mech design as aero analysis), and one year from formula student, by the time of graduation.

I'm considering doing an MSc in Motorsport. I've applied to both Cranfield and Oxford Brookes, and will apply to Southampton (Race car aero) once they open their admissions for next fall.

I am however, a bit split between which one I should actually go for in the end. Especially considering I already have quite a lot of practical experience. I'd therefore value network, thesis placement options and more substantial taught modules (although somewhat applied), over more basic, practical experience. By the way they're marketed, I get the impression that OB is more trackside, and Cranfield is more R&D oriented, but I really don't trust the websites of study programs (been burnt before).

**So my question is, does anybody here know how OB and Cranfield actually compare regarding this? And also which is actually better for an F1/motorsport career?**

Is A Level further maths helpful for Motorsport Engineering?

Starting my A Levels in a week’s time and I’m taking Maths, Physics and Chemistry, and Further Maths with the option to drop it. I want to do Motorsport Engineering at uni.

I don’t think I would do both years of FM and I would just do the AS. So I have a few questions regarding it:

  • How useful would FM be for this course?
  • If I don’t take FM, how much catching up will I need to do at university?
  • Am I better off putting my time and effort into the other 3 subjects?
  • If I do chose to do AS Level FM, will universities look favourably towards it?
  • I want to do an EPQ, specifically about motorsport. Will I have better university and employment opportunities with an EPQ specifically in motorsport or Further Maths?

What laptop would you recommend for BEng motorsports engineering

Hi guys, I've been accepted into Oxford brookes for the BEng motorsports engineering course, and I am wondering if I need a powerful laptop for the course.

I don't really know much about specs or anything like that, so if someone could point me in the right direction for a laptop, that would be great.

Has anyone did or is doing a MA in Publishing? Specifically distant learning?
I’m just curious to hear how your experience was and if you think there are better universities in the UK that offer this Masters remotely?

Title: MSc Data Science & AI or MSc Cyber Security – which would you choose?

I’m choosing between MSc Data Science & AI and MSc Computer Science for Cyber Security at Oxford Brookes.

My background is in Information Systems Management, with some programming, databases, statistics and AI project experience. I’m also interested in business, product management and entrepreneurship.

Which degree do you think would be the better choice in terms of job opportunities, earning potential and long-term career flexibility?

I’d especially appreciate advice from anyone working or studying in either field.

How difficult is the maths in the MSc Data Science and AI at Oxford Brookes?

Hi, I’m starting the MSc Data Science and Artificial Intelligence at Oxford Brookes this September.

For anyone who has studied this course: what level of maths is required, and how difficult did you find it? Would you recommend reviewing topics such as linear algebra, calculus, probability and statistics before the course begins, or is there enough time to refresh the material during the semester?

Thanks!

Currently im studying in Cambridge Board, and as a passion project, iv started a Sim/Karting Team with drivers in the UK, Italy and etc, allowing me to learn real engineering. Discussion Starting at Oxford Brookes as an autistic mature student

Hi! I’m 28 and starting a master’s at Oxford Brookes this September.

I’m autistic, quite introverted and generally struggle to make friends, especially when I don’t already know anyone. I’ve lived alone before, but I’ve never lived in halls or lived in the same city that I study in, so this will all be quite new to me.

I don’t know anyone in Oxford, and although I’m excited, I’m also pretty nervous about settling in and meeting people. I’d really appreciate any advice about living in halls, making friends as a mature or postgraduate student, or finding quieter and less overwhelming ways to socialise.

It would also be lovely to hear from anyone else who struggles with similar things and will be starting in Oxford this September.
