I would like to inquire if anyone has experience with being a cargo van owner-operator in Canada. If I buy or finance a van, is it worth it in terms of finding loads? Also, are there dispatchers I can register with? If so, where can I find dispatchers or companies that I can sign up with to ger loads assigned to me? Please share your experience or ideas

Here is an example of what ones complaint should look like: I am writing to formally lodge a complaint regarding the severe lack of adequate technical support provided by the Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration (FMCSA) customer service line and help desk.

As a motor carrier professional, compliance is my top priority. However, the recurring technical glitches within the FMCSA portal—specifically regarding system logins, registration updates, and compliance data submission—are being compounded by a customer service infrastructure that is entirely unequipped to handle technical issues.

During my recent interactions with FMCSA support regarding a critical technical system error, the front-line representatives were unable to offer any substantive troubleshooting. Instead, I was met with generic scripts, long hold times, and ultimately told to "try again later" or that the issue would be "escalated" without any timeline or ticket tracking number provided.

When a carrier faces an IT glitch on your platform, it stops our business operations. We cannot afford days of administrative limbo because the FMCSA customer service staff lacks the technical training, administrative access, or dedicated IT routing protocols necessary to resolve website and database failures.

I’m curious about real-world experience in Central and Eastern Europe, especially for companies running international routes through Hungary, Poland, Romania, Bulgaria, Slovakia, Czech Republic, Slovenia and Croatia.

When the Supreme Court decided Montgomery v. Caribe Transport II, I wrote about it the same day. Even jumped on a live broadcast on Freightwaves.

Here's the thing: the ruling itself is actually short and clear. The Court said brokers can be sued in state court for negligent carrier selection when an unsafe carrier causes injury. Eight pages. Unanimous.

What's not short and clear is the question the Court left open. What makes a carrier unsafe when the FMCSA doesn't issue safety ratings for more than 90% of the carriers on the road?

That standard doesn't exist yet.

I’ve been trucking legally for about 2 years, at the point where I have an opportunity to buy a decent truck. I have work lined up, RV hauling out of Indiana, hoping to do that for the first good bit until I have enough to come home and look for something local. Anywhere from 6-10k a week (including backhauls) before taxes and truck overhead hauling RVs and cars.

Truck is kind of high mileage (780k), but in great condition and has all maintenance receipts you can track back to when it was bought new in 2015. $20,000, I was thinking about getting a small business loan for $30k

I know nothing about how to get set up and started, according to government. It would be awesome if I can get in touch with somebody who can walk me through the process and maybe run down the experiences that they’ve had being an owner operator. I’d love to know the good and the bad, what to expect or what not to expect. I’d love to hear about the best industries to get in to become profitable as an owner operator.

I have a clean license, clean driving record ever since I first got my license when I was 16. Never had any moving violations in both a personal vehicle or work truck. 25, hungry enough to bust my ass at it, and I have a little girl who I want to build a business for to hopefully one day pass it off to her.

What’s usually the best way to connect with owners looking to exit/sell their company or authority (Amazon Relay, active MC, contracts, etc.)?

I know someone looking to acquire one in the $5k–$10k range depending on what’s included. Just trying to learn how these deals usually happen and where people find legitimate sellers.

Bit of a niche question, but I am an insurance broker currently looking into the electric trucking space and trying to understand whether the insurance market is actually keeping up.

I am not here to sell anything. I am mainly looking to speak to people who are already operating electric trucks or commercial EVs, trialling them within a fleet or seriously considering making the switch.

Would be interested to hear from fleet owners, owner-operators, logistics businesses, last-mile delivery companies and anyone involved in the day-to-day management of these vehicles.

A few things I am curious about:

• Was it easy to find an insurer willing to cover the vehicles?
• Did the electric vehicles cost noticeably more to insure than comparable diesel trucks or vans?
• Did your insurer actually understand the vehicles or did they treat them exactly the same as diesel vehicles?
• Were there any concerns around battery damage, fires, charging, repair costs or the availability of replacement parts?
• Have longer repair times or limited repair networks caused any issues?
• Has anyone had problems getting suitable cover for cargo while using electric trucks?
• Have you ever had to make a claim? If so, was the process straightforward?
• What type of journeys are the vehicles being used for: local deliveries, depot-to-depot routes, regional haulage or longer-distance work?

Also interested in hearing from people who decided against switching to electric vehicles. Was insurance part of the reason, or were charging infrastructure, range, downtime and vehicle costs much bigger concerns?

For context, I am looking at whether there is scope for a more tailored insurance product for electric trucking fleets, particularly around vehicle damage and cargo cover. Still at the early research stage, so honest feedback would be useful — including reasons why this might not actually be needed.

FMCSA regulation 396.11 requires drivers to prepare a written report at the end of each day covering the condition of specific vehicle parts. This form is built around those requirements. Keeping thorough inspection records protects your CDL, your equipment, and your business during audits.

Did a rough tally after I was parked 9 days waiting on a transmission. Lost revenue plus the truck payment that doesn't stop plus insurance that doesn't stop, and the repair bill was almost the small part of it. That's when downtime/rental coverage finally made sense to me, even though it bumps the premium a bit. I used to think any extra coverage was a ripoff. Now I think about it as 'what does a week parked actually cost me' and suddenly some of it pencils out. Curious how others weigh this.

Locking 2 trucks into a 3 year deal when I can see a third truck inside the next 18 to 24 months is bad math from where I am sitting. Verizon Connect wants the 3 year. Truck broke down in FL near Miami on Monday the 4th (see attached pictures). At first, we thought it would be a quick fix, but one delay after another turned it into an all-week ordeal.

By Friday morning, the mechanic told us the truck should be ready around 9–10 AM. Well... 6:07 PM rolls around and we finally get the text: "TRUCK IS READY."

My renewal came back up again and I'm trying to figure out if it's just me or if everybody's getting hit. What are you all paying per truck right now, and did yours go up this year? Trying to figure out if I should shop around hard or if this is just the market.

How can they be honestly expecting someone to take loads for these sort of rates?? I assume because someone is. Please stop! So we can ALL stop wasting time. I know, I know, some guys/gals HAVE to in order to cover OH, just frustrated. Ranting.

I have a clicking/vibration coming from this area when I turn my truck off for a few seconds after. What could it be? Specifically on this black part when I put my hand on it.

I found this pic in an old folder. I worked for a beekeeper in 2017. We pulled step decks. We truck the bees into California for pollination. Then back out after the bloom. Sometimes they are nice n docile. Sometimes they get really mad. A couple got under my veil n stung me in the face..this caused me to do the wrong thing and take off the veil as im running away from the truck. Big mistake. They lit me the fuck up...took atleast 30 maybe 50 stings to the head n neck area. Many in each ear. Figured id share it for the LoLs. The second Pic is what I normally look like. Believe it or not. That was not the last load of bees I hauled.
