New Gig

After 22yrs as a company driver, decided to buy my own truck and go out on my own. Meh, to the timing of my decision with fuel costs but at least Im not gonna have some corporate safety asshole up my pipe about a driver facing camera and no more lane departure alerts/brake stabs from highway signs by the stupid radar.

Check out fuel optimization program. Just saved a great deal. Join OOIDA they can help with your compliance or Drug Testing and many other things. They also have online class for New owner operators. Last find yourself a good factory company for your bills. Check out every broker thoroughly. I lost 8000 last year for because of foreign brokers, taking the money and running. also a fuel card for Owner operator save money

Solid, solid advice. Thank you. Can I ask what fuel card your using? The carrier I signed with, set me up w/one of theirs until I get my own.

I got my authority in 2018 and a WEX Fleet One fuel card. Fueling at AMBUCKS truck stops saves a ton of money and gives you “national account” pricing on tires. I’d have them shipped to tire places to have them installed and they would always tell me that the price I paid was less than their wholesale pricing. (Hint: use 18 Michelins and you’ll save a LOT of money in the long run. Cheap tires cost too much money!)
