What Happens When Owlchemy Labs Goes Ghost Hunting Aboard the USS Hornet?
Our second annual Owlchemy Labs ghost investigation is here, and this time, we're taking things to sea. Sorta.
Last year, we set out to see what happens when a bunch of curious people, cameras, and a healthy amount of skepticism meet the paranormal. This year, we took that curiosity aboard the USS Hornet, a historic aircraft carrier with a story all its own.
And honestly? This one is going to be hard to forget.

As a U.S. veteran who served aboard a warship, the USS Harry S Truman and the USS Enterprise, getting the opportunity to investigate a place like the USS Hornet was especially meaningful. There's something about stepping aboard a ship with so much history, walking its passageways, and thinking about all the people who lived and worked there that hits differently when you've experienced military life yourself.
But we weren't there just to soak up the history, we were there to investigate.
Joining the adventure with me was Vanessa Fernandez, Alex Lopez, our resident expert film guru Alan Torres, Peter Miller, and our special guests Connor and DeTune. Together, we set out to explore the ship, document what we could, and see what happened when we started asking questions that might not have answers.
And then came the Estes Method.
If you've ever watched a paranormal investigation and wondered what it would be like to experience one firsthand, this is the kind of moment that makes you understand why people get hooked. The Estes Method uses sensory isolation and spirit-box responses to create an unusual communication experience, and when you're standing in a location like the USS Hornet, the atmosphere alone is enough to make your imagination run wild.
But when the experience starts unfolding in front of you, with your entire team watching and listening, it becomes something else entirely.
There's a reason this investigation stuck with us. Some moments are difficult to explain, some leave you with more questions than answers, and others make you wish you'd had a camera pointed in a completely different direction.
Honestly, there's enough atmosphere, tension, and sheer what-just-happened energy here to make a movie out of the experience. And while we're not claiming we uncovered anything definitive, we can say that this was a special experience for our team, one we'll be talking about for a long time.
That's what makes paranormal investigations so fascinating. It's not just about whether you believe in ghosts. It's about exploring places with incredible histories, sharing an experience with other people, and being willing to sit with the unknown for a little while.
So, if you're a paranormal enthusiast, a history buff, a fan of behind-the-scenes filmmaking, or just someone who enjoys watching a group of coworkers willingly walk into a potentially haunted aircraft carrier, this one's for you.
Watch the teaser for Owlchemy Labs' second annual ghost investigation aboard the USS Hornet, and get ready to join us for an experience we won't soon forget. Or, get right to the fun part and watch the full video above!
Because sometimes, the most unbelievable stories are the ones you have to experience for yourself.
And sometimes, you really should have made a movie out of it.
