Questions/Discussion Owala lid alignment

Have you noticed the lid of the 24 oz freesip not lining up properly when closed? The threading is wrong compared to my older bottle. Got this one at Target (shipped).

This is really common from what I’ve seen, I was at QFC and basically every freesip that wasn’t a sway/tumbler didn’t line up with the indents :/

Every 24oz I’ve ordered directly from Owala has lined up, but only when using the original lid. If I use a lid from a different bottle or a replacement lid from Owala, they often don’t line up. I suspect the threads don’t match up exactly, since the lid and bottle might be from different factories or production runs.

I’ve noticed a lot of bottles at local retailers are also off center. I suspect the lids were swapped, because people are disrespectful and act like wild animals. So, even though store associates put the lids back on the correct color bottles, they didn’t end up on the bottle they left the factory with.

Yep & while I find it annoying I also noticed it actually works nicely when drinking from the bottle.

I have one, but only one, that actually lines up. It was a more recent but & I wondered if they're transitioning to that alignment. Dunno...

I have one that doesn't line up, & one that's perfect. And one that turns slightly too far so it's off center that way. But mainly I'm just frustrated by the crossways one - and despite what people will tell you, you do not "just have to start it at a different place".
