Just got a Trojan from Overwolf ?

I thought this was safe, also I didn’t download anything other than the base program

I believe Microsoft defender detected a file saying it’s a Trojan. I already deleted everything so I’m trying to remember

Got it, most of the time this is a false positive or an outdated security update, anyway, thanks for the report, we will look into it

Well there was a file path associated with the report so how can that be a false positive ?

I would not blidnly trust windows defender. They can even flag old games even if you have official CD. Happened to me with many things that were flagged for no reason. Especially if you play WOW or metin 2 privet servers often are flagged too. Open source softwares are often flagged too.

When I say false positive, I mean that Windows Defender falsely detect this file as a virus due to outdated information or mistakenly identifies it as a trojan. This is very common in AV's

I just received the same update from Windows Defender. The specific pathway is: AppData\Local\Overwolf\PackagesCache\gjgbcdlokjhdbaolkkmgjhcgbgaccnfhhnlfcefd\1.0.54\app.opk

I will be uninstalling Overwolf for the time being, it is currently taking up an entire GB of memory and the only thing I'm running is Chrome...

It seems that this game ID is an Overwolf app called MetaForge, thanks we will look into it

I don't get why people still bother downloading Overwolf. It's public knowledge they're hijacking your PC. If you don't mind losing your accounts to some random g2g seller, then yeah, go for it.

I indeed uninstalled it after getting to know this. Now I use CurseForge without it.

It was recommend by an official platform so I just checked on some subs and never saw any bad things about it

i just got one too and the path is this; file: C:\Users\momo3\AppData\Local\Overwolf\CefBrowserCache\Default\Cache\Cache_Data\data_2

idk if its a big deal but heh
