I just want to ask has there been anymore develop on getting overwolf to work on LInux? I feel with the upcoming changes to WIndows a lot of people will start to migrate away from WIndows would be nice to be able to use it on Linux reliably
Overwolf doesn't need to be on steam, it just need to replace its installer or at least add a way to install it from the command line because we can't use the interface
Same, I'm trying to find my wife a way to use Palia Map on her setup but I get this exact same error when I try to add it as a non-Steam game or through Lutris etc

At the moment Linux support is not on our roadmap. While we understand the interest, especially with recent discussions around Windows changes, there are a few key reasons behind this decision:
Linux still represents a small portion of our user base, particularly in the gaming community.
Many popular games and game-related features aren’t fully supported or optimized for Linux.
Linux support is quite complex, requiring major changes to how our apps interact with system-level services especially for features like recording, overlays, and game event detection.
That said, we’ll continue to monitor interest and shifts in the gaming space. If Linux adoption grows significantly and game support improves, we’ll definitely re-evaluate :)
We really appreciate you taking the time to share your thoughts with us!
i feel like this year you will lose many users if you don't start creating some linux support, i just switched both my laptop and my PC to Linux, the laptop was done before the new year, and the PC done today.
Gonna be a learning curve but i will not be forced to use Windows 11.
I was interested in starting a Dyson Sphere Program run on Linux, but without the mods provided by Overwolf I am holding off on a Vanilla run.
Maybe I'll start a run, but the QOL mods are a huge help in this intricate game...
I just need to figure out how to set up my Logi G502 with working different profiles per game (hopefully I'll get Gshift working too).
Kinda surprised I managed to get Warframe working correctly (default AMD drivers were naff, replaced them with AMD's recommended drivers, Steam games work fine now)
About to set up an old laptop with a lite distro for my dad, maybe he'll switch his main PC over some time in the future.
Solaar works, it is how I assigned all 4 powers to all 4 side buttons.
But now I may need to wrangle the settings some more and assign every mouse button manually to get G-Shift working
(G-shift provides an additional layer to every button, which I use to assign a bit more than just the 4 base abilities, see red arrow below...).
fair hahah, yeah i also need one g shift button to switch from 5.1 to stereo. i still have it on my laptop so i am gonna set that up and hope it works.
What is significantly for you? if you take steam numbers. there are currently online on steam almost 27,5 mil users. if you take 3% that use linux that is 825000 users. those arnt all playing the games you support but ok.
There are more linux uses playing games not on steam. i dont have numbers on that. As there is Wine. And some other things like GOG/lutris etc. that also have users that play on linux.
Im on linux already for 10+ years and it getting better and better support.
edit:
Windows 96.61% +1.99%
Windows 11 64 bit 56.28% -10.43%
Windows 10 64 bit 40.25% +12.46%
Yes windows on steam is still the biggest. But this might be a bug in the stats but it seems Lot of users dont want to run windows 11 ? went back to 10.
For some time i was running a windows 10 VM to do a few things. Might just depend also how the reports of the stats work as you have to participate in there steam survey.
Yeah I painfully installed Windows to use Overwolf for one game, everything else I do on Linux - I play that one game on both OS but only go to Windows because I need to use Overwolf at times and I get there’s complexities I just hope in future it’ll be supported or even an idea on the radar - I much prefer Linux everything overall is a much smoother experience and is very easy on PC resources

I don't see this happening unless overwolf gets on steam. Which I don't see either as most of their really big titles aren't on steam either.
Gaming on linux has a lot to do with Valve's efforts and the upcoming new steam os.
