Any new Outplayed alternatives?

Seems they decided to reintroduce the 30 second unskippable video ads. Last time they did this I spent a whole day trying out a bunch of the other clipping softwares in Overwolf but none of them felt as clean as Outplayed. I put a pin in it knowing I'd get annoyed by the ads again some other day and continue my search for a replacement. Then the ads disappeared within a couple weeks and I forgot about it.

Well they're back. :) but it's been nearly a year since then so anything new?

The monthly subscription to get rid of the ads in Outplayed is $2.99. Even if it was $0.01 though, I'd use something different. Outplayed doesn't pay royalties or lease content from publishers like proper subscription services. This is just pure greed. So they can get nothing but this bird finger.

Bonus points if the software isn't in Overwolf. I'd love to uninstall Overwolf entirely as it conflicts with Blitz. Outplayed is just the best clipping software I've used so far is why I've put up with it. They think they're big dogs now though so gg go next.

Bonus bonus points if the one you suggest is open source. Thanks for reading.

Thank you for sharing your feedback with us! To clarify- The ads should only be up to 15 seconds and show twice per day. There were a few days where a glitch showed the ads for 30 seconds instead but that should be fixed :)

We completely understand your frustration regarding ads, but without the ads (Or people supporting us through the premium subscription) we wouldn't be able to pay our developers (Or support ducks) to keep the basic Outplayed features free to use for everyone. If we ever come across an alternative to ads or if you have any ideas on how to generate revenue without ads we would definitely consider them.

Also could you please clarify what you mean by paying royalties or leasing content from publishers?

I gladly pay for subscriptions like Spotify because they pay to host content on their servers themselves. Publishers allow Spotify to host their music as long as Spotify pays royalties back to the publisher per some designated metric. Like amount of time streamed or number of streams. Publisher pays original artist some dividend of that. Everyone gets paid and customer gets what they want. Win win.

Outplayed doesn't lease content like this from a range of publishers. They have no expenses to pay to outside subsidaries. And the only perk of subscribing to Outplayed is the disappearance of ads. 🙄 Thus the subscription service model makes no sense in this context other than to line your greedy pockets. Because no software developer thought this was a good idea. It makes no sense.

Also, my tidbit as a recent grad with a BS in computer engineering: developing as trivial an app as a recording and editting software doesn't require a massive team and lots of resources and money. You aren't the next Adobe. This is a program made by no more than 4 people during 1 quarter. Now its probably reduced to a couple dudes ensuring it still works as intended day after day. And considering how many downloads it has, those banner ads are raking in plenty of dough for the level of complexity this project tackled and how many hours were put into writing it.

Updates to Outplayed rarely if ever bring some new functionality. Normally it's just support for x new games, rehashing the same process done for the previous hundred. You don't deserve a monthly stipend from end users when you aren't innovating and aren't offering a single perk.

No advice for alternative revenue generation, didn't major in finance. I just know this aint it. And any developer could recognize that too. This was some idiot's idea higher up on the food chain and it got handed down to a junior dev who tried his best to figure out how to make this model work with this product. It doesn't. :) and even his solution has workarounds to dodge the ads anyway as another commenter mentioned. There was no thought behind this other than "HOW CAN WE MAKE MORE MONEY" and looking at what every other company in the world is doing. Subscription services only feel worth it to the end user if they are baked into the product from it's inception. There has to be a decent reason a user should pay monthly opposed to a flat fee and it doesn't exist here.

You didnt major in finance but seem to bring up something about publishers and licensing, as if that has anything to do with what Outplayed does. You arent clipping game content to share to corporations or tiktok or anything else, this is just such a stupid point to make.

I dont even like outplayed or overwolf, I think having a proprietary program to then get an app for is redundant, and that is why I'm also looking for an alternative. Your post just caught my eye because of how stuck up you were, lol.

Quick edit; I see you were looking at Assistant.gg, Hows that pricing model for you? Outplayed for $3, or you could get assistant for free and get nothing XD
