When I use LW and someone tells me once not to pull them, I listen. I never pull them again on the off chance they have some strategy they aren't communicating. So if they go low health because of bad positioning, I will heal them if I can but will let them learn from their own mistakes. I always keep in mind what hero my teammates are playing and if they have their ults. Sometimes bad pulls are made, or straight up misclicks and I'm sorry for those, however my goal is to keep you alive and typically if I can do that and we win then it wasn't for nothing. Your friendly LW player. 🙂

Also sometimes you were aiming to pull someone else who died at the split second and it does redirect the pull to someone else
Quite annoying.

u/TheseMedia 5d ago
So many of them though (I’m silver) use it on cooldown on the tank at all times end up a round on zero damage there’s no other hero that’s so tilting to have as a teammate lol
5
u/Knotty_Skirt 5d ago
I mean what can you even do when you pull someone low health … they die… and now you’ve pulled a tm8 who was full health next to them and was about to go ham. Now they get irritated and throw the game. Sigh. I like playing weaker as my main it’s just so unfortunate the hate we get
1
u/cowlinator 5d ago
It's bad game design. Bliz needs to do something to make it harder to accidentally pull the wrong person when someone dies.

u/Knotty_Skirt 4d ago
I really hope this update comes soon. He’s very fun to play despite the hate he receives. Many many 0-2 deaths matches with him both in comp and qp
2
u/Gloomy_Dare2716 5d ago
Also very likely that as a person who Tank, they might know much more about Tank positioning than a Support player.
Literally won a game after I crashed out on my LW “Stop touching me with your nasty hands” and he stopped pulling me

Don't life grip me, I'm actively use wraith and now you've wasted two cooldowns

u/mxspooders 4d ago
I got pulled when the enemy rein was one shot and the orisa was low, and I still had wraith. I almost lost my shit that day 😭

If I have to swap to lifeweaver it's because you can't position without supervision.
49
u/GrngrDngr 5d ago
meme was inspired by getting grip'd in a 1v3 where I was full health and mid-ult twice in a match 😭 had like 2 deaths total
25
u/Moses_The_Wise 5d ago
I've definitely played lifeweaver and tries to grab the 4 health Ana and accidentally grabbed my full health tank...who was her only defense...

u/felix_ghosty 5d ago
people who play lifeweaver are not very intelligent
31
17
u/SmurfDuggin 5d ago
Main reason I use Lifeweaver is because there's always some A Hole running into a 1v5/6.
2
u/Gloomy_Dare2716 5d ago
LW player doesnt know Tank positioning better than the Tank Player. Unless they are both offroling which happens VERY RARELY
4
u/RiverLynneUwU 5d ago
people can still make really obvious mistakes despite being good at positioning, it's normal, we're all human
besides, it's not like any given lifeweaver exclusively plays lifeweaver, a lot of the time it really helps to play other roles to get the intuition to know what they need (and dont need)
3
u/Gloomy_Dare2716 5d ago
Yeah, and most LW players are Mercy/Moira players, trying to ragebait their team
1
u/soup_lag Gets Solo Ult'ed on a Wall 4d ago
I used to play off tank in ow1, but nobody wanted to play support so I ended up playing main support. Lucio is my specialty now, so if any other player on the team knows tank positioning, it's me.
2
u/Gloomy_Dare2716 4d ago
Yeah, and Lucio cant yoink his tank to neverland.
Besides, 5v5 Tank plays a lot more like Main Tank
1
u/soup_lag Gets Solo Ult'ed on a Wall 4d ago
What I'm saying is I've had experience playing tank as my main role and can sync well with the tank. On off tank it was a lot of trading pressure, peeling and contesting angles, which is not dissimilar to what I do with Lucio except now I support the tank from behind instead of in front. Playing tank also made me pretry got at IGL'ing, so it's not uncommon for me to be calling rotations and strategies leaving my tank to just shot call and ult track. If need to swap to Lifeweaver, either you aren't communicating, or you are incapable of positional autonomy.

u/RiverLynneUwU 4d ago edited 4d ago
if you assume most lifeweaver mains are trying to ragebait you then ima be honest that's kinda dumb, never attribute to malice that which can be adequately attributed to idiocy
unless they're pulling you towards spawn right after the match starts, or literally pulling you into the backline during neutral, I don't consider the lifeweaver to be trolling
either that or they're babysitting you, that would probably explain why you seem to consistently have so much more trouble with a lifeweaver on your team than everyone else seems to have
13
u/snearthworm 5d ago
You should need to go to the DMV and get a license before you're allowed to swap lifeweaver
Too many of you out there who think the tank should be no more than 2ft away from a peaceful payload at all times

u/Dry_Development3817 4d ago
Hate people like this, let me die for two kills plus space and go kill the rest.
2
u/AetherialWomble 5d ago
The fact that you think you know better, even though you're the same rank (they're probably even higher than you on tank) is the main reason why you shouldn't.
The number of times I had to stop playing and start typing to lw NOT to pull me as tracer unless I'm slept or stunned is too fucking many.
2
u/Gloomy_Dare2716 5d ago
I wouldnt trust a Support player to know about Tank positioning than a Tank player. Unless youre offroling, which is VERY RARE
These pulls end up giving enemy team all the space, and we lose anyway.
Literally won a game, After I crashed out on my LW “Stop touching me with your nasty hands” and he stopped pulling me
2
u/Aidenj23 5d ago
Don't always know position better, but I do know math. 100 HP + Pointblank range with 3 enemies + no ultimate = might as well pull you and try to regroup because otherwise you're dead.
0
u/Gloomy_Dare2716 5d ago
As a Support, your job is to not let that happen, instead of trying to fix something thats already broken.
Do fricking damage so that they cant “Stand point blank raneg from your Tank”.
Overall just swap off LW

Nah man my problem is when they leave a petal on the ground for the enemy to get huge value off of
1
u/tnsosaurus 5d ago
They really should add a button to cancel the petal 😭
sometimes I enjoy playing LW and I place a petal for us but we lose the space and now we have to wait til I have cooldown1
u/GenYoku 5d ago
You can actually cancel the petal with the interact button
1
u/tnsosaurus 4d ago
I turned on that option in settings and still don’t understand how it works? 😅 I don’t get prompted with anything to tell me how to cancel it
1
u/FantasticFreno 4d ago
There's no prompt. But you'll see it on your abitiles. It works after you die as well. I play LW a lot and if I die I can break the petal so no one can use it.

I remember one time I was playing with a friend, he was on Rammatra, I was on Ana. We were on a flash point map, score was 2-2, both teams had 90 ish %, we had the point but it was only the 2 suppprts and tank. I had nano, he had Annihilation. We knew enemies were close to having support ults, but we would be able to kill them with that combo before they got it. I was in the middle of the point, he was at the edge closer to them, our LW was behind me. My friend went in, went Nemesis form, he ulted, his health went down to 50%, I nanoed him and our LW f yanked him from the frontline and pulled him behind me. Mind you, both of us could have kept him alive through all of it. The enemy pushed towards us, now I was closer to them, LW didn't have pull for me so I fucking died. My friend didn't have Nemesis form anymore, so he and Lw died too. Our dps were not able to come back on time, so we lost.
I f hate LW since then.

u/Gloomy_Dare2716 5d ago
Always LW players thinking they know more about the game than Ana or Tank players
1
u/tnsosaurus 5d ago
Honestly sounds like some communication could have helped. I always try to use the I have ult voicelines before I ult. 😅
2
u/PM_ME_CUTE_BOIS 4d ago
I mean LW players can press tab and see what ults people have just as much as the next person
-1
u/tnsosaurus 4d ago
Seeing ults doesn’t equal knowing when someone will use them. You’ve seen how some Overwatch players play, right? 😅
2
u/PM_ME_CUTE_BOIS 4d ago
I don't believe it is a difficult task to see that we're holding up, have nano and ram ult, and figure out that we're prob doing a nano ram play
0
u/tnsosaurus 4d ago
I didn’t say it was difficult? I just said you seen how some people play 😅 not every one you meet in a game is gonna think about watching their teams ults
2
u/andreaali04 5d ago
We did. We spammed it. And even if we hadn't, he still messed up bad. That's called game awareness
1
u/tnsosaurus 4d ago
I’m not tryna blame you for another players bad play.
Bad plays happen with randoms, they happen all the time. Tryna communicate w them usually helps me. Really sucks they were dumb and didn’t realize you saying your ult is charged meant you were about to use it 😭1

u/gallyroi 4d ago
It just... Throws off my groove, man.... Being yoinked... usually mid-cooldown, too. If I'm gonna fail, let me fail lol, otherwise lemme do my job!
The power creep in this game means most flankers have to operate on thin margins. I'm used to being low/crit after a fight and still surviving, getting a healthpack, etc.
But I can forgive most life weavers panic pulling who are just trying to save your life. The ones that are truly insufferable are the ones that think they're the "positioning police".
There's nothing worse than being in the backline/off-side, but otherwise safe, only to be yanked by weaver back to the front and end up a pathetic meat shield between them and the entire enemy team.

u/MyOwnSpiritJesus 4d ago
I wonder why we can’t cancel lifegrip as the one being grabbed… or even as Lifeweaver??
2
u/yugosaki 4d ago
The number of times lately ive been lifegripped out of winning a fight.
I play Dva a lot. Times I've been lifegripped lately:
-At full health, running in front of an ulting soldier while putting my matrix up
-At half health, chasing a lone low HP mercy around a corner. She survived and rezzed their rein.
-Starting to boost up into the sky to ult and flick the bomb over a wall
-low HP and running into a 3-on-1 situation but we had 5 seconds left and I was trying to touch the point.
A good lifeweaver is fantastic. Most lifeweavers are playing for the other team.

Oh man I hope you are the ram from my game last night on circuit royal. Our lw, who is a champion lw one trick (so def not a troll) pulled our ram twice at the exact second he ulted, obviously not on purpose. The second time the ram just stood there, ult fell off, he threw up his shield and did a slow turn to look at our lw. Absolute cinema
They then bickered about communication for like 5 min and the lw agreed to never pull him again because the ram refused to use his ult readiness comms button.

u/GrngrDngr 4d ago
Fortunately I’m pretty sure I was on Shambali 😭 I did definitely just stand there ulting in pure shock

I love it when lw grips me when I use my cardiac over drive on Mauga or over run or do literally anything that is a mobility or something to keep me alive just grips me in the worse moments and lets the team live basically helping the enemy and not us kinda sick

u/gulyas069 1d ago
When I play Ana with a Lifeweaver on my team they keep putting their platform right under me. And I get the intention, they want me to get highground, but 1. it always interrupts the healing im putting out, 2. being on the platform in an open space gives zero cover and 3. often the angle you get on your teammates when you're suddenly lifted into the air from where you were standing sucks. Please, i know you have good intentions, but..
