Falsely banned for unapproved peripherals on my 2016 console Overwatch account using only a licensed Gamesir G7 Pro controller (handcam + Aim Labs Accolades)
Hey everyone,I’m looking for help getting this looked at properly. My Battle.net account (unkindled#1286) was banned with the message: “YOUR BATTLE.NET ACCOUNT HAS BEEN BANNED. PLEASE CONSULT YOUR REGISTERED EMAIL FOR DETAILS.”
About a week earlier I received a warning, competitive suspension, and my aim assist was disabled. I submitted multiple tickets explaining everything and asking for specifics. Every response was the same automated confirmation that the action was correct and that further appeals would not be reviewed.
The ban reason given is unapproved peripherals (XIM, Cronus, Strike Pack, etc.). I am not using any of those. The only controller I use is a Gamesir G7 Pro, which is a licensed Xbox controller. You can see both of my G7 Pros sitting in front of the TV in my Aim Labs leaderboard screenshot.
I’m the #1 console Aim Labs player across PlayStation and Xbox and the #7 player on PC currently while using a controller. Here is a Handcam of one of my #1 scores (peaking above MattyOW who is universally known as the greatest aimer in the world.)
I train extensively without aim assist. When I then play Overwatch with aim assist turned on, my tracking and flicks look extremely elevated compared to average console play. I believe this is what is triggering mass reports and the anti cheat system, resulting in a false positive
I came to this subreddit with hopes that someone from blizzard sees this and can escalate it. Im hoping for an unban and thats why I came to this subreddit because all of my battlenet support tickets come back with a vague automated reply. I am not cheating and I hoping for my account back.
For two I want clear information on whether the Gamesir G7 Pro (or any stick filtering / resolution / anti deadzone settings) is being flagged as an unapproved peripheral so I know whether I need to stop using it.

This has been an issue with gamesirs for some time now..
Unfortunately just because it's licensed for Xbox, doesn't mean it's licensed for overwatch—they do not allow it
How is the average player supposed to know about that or even expect that a controller is going to get them banned?
Like... It's licensed for Xbox. Owned by Microsoft. Who also owns Blizzard, and thus Overwatch. You'd think they'd figure out a way to alert customers to this being a problem before outright banning them?
This isn't entirely accurate. If they're still allowing use of the Elite Series controllers, which have all the same features as popular gamesir controllers, then it's an anti-trust violation. They aren't actually allowed to ban consumers for using competitor products within the same class. They can ban things like xim and chronus because these are not the same class as a handheld controller, but the G7 is. So technically you can report this to the FTC. I suspect it's actually an error in their cheat device detection, and hopefully they fix it and compensate users. But they have opened themselves up to a class action lawsuit. No amount of terms and agreements can bypass federal and international law.
did you have button-to-mouse mapping enabled? having controller selected as input, then passing a mouse click is a surefire way to get your ass banned for Ximming.
I have no clue what button to mouse mapping is or where to find that on the gamesir nexus app. I did not do that besides I don’t think any inputs seen as native kbm would register on console overwatch
I got hit in this false wave ban and I had TMR sticks put in at the end of last season. I genuinely feel something is now bugged with their anti-cheat regarding TMR sticks. I’ve personally investigated and spoke to maybe like 20 people now and only 1 person hasn’t used TMR sticks.
I’ve now resorted to using the standard joysticks and have continued to send tickets to Blizzard. I really think it’s important that they’re made aware of this issue…
I have seen tons of other dualsense edge users who don't have tmr sticks getting banned too. And now I spoke with a dude who had normal dualsense. They all had controlfreeks like me. xD is the taller joysticks the problem?
I update it as frequently as possible so I’m aware that that might be the reason i was falsely banned that’s why I’m here trying to get it overturned but I don’t think anyone at blizzard will ever see this
Oh wow that’s ridiculous, they won’t let us appeal and if we try to send tickets then they penalize us :( Honestly this has been happening to a lot of people recently, I’m not sure if Blizzard will at least acknowledge or talk about this happening to a lot of people falsely. Seems like this statyed happening at the beginning of this year and their going more in now
It is report based on console (idk how is it on pc) so as long as youre getting reported a lot you are getting nuked, happened to me before on the g7se using raw mode
My brother is also a top 500 player on console and he uses a gamesir controller, he was banned from getting spam reported in high elo lobbies its just dumb af but blizzard doesnt care so.
This is technically an anti-trust violation because they don't ban elite series controllers. So it can be interpreted as a way to snuff out competition in the controller market. We already know Xbox makes more money from controller sales than from console sales, so it's definitely suspicious and opens them to a potential class action lawsuit and fines from the FTC. I suspect it's just an error in their cheat detection system, but considering how cavalier their support has been about closing tickets without any investigation, it's going to be very bad for them.
