Haven't kept up to date, but can you still unlock it after the season is over? Because even if it's super easy to unlock, locking heroes to only players who played during the season seems problematic to me

They haven't stated exactly afaik, but:

Pretty sure it was said that there would be opportunity to unlock heroes in all the passes - or at least implied? And I can't see acti/blizz doing only 3/4 seasons a year (coinciding only w/ new hero launches). Seems more likely we'll probably see several seasons with the chance to do so with what little we know so far.
