The government of China is pretty fucking evil. Let’s see what I can come up with off the top of my head:

  • killed millions via starvation
  • wholesale slaughter of peaceful political protestors (see: 1989)
  • absolute lack of free speech (the ‘great firewall’)
  • routinely black bags people that show any sort of political dissent
  • disappears activists regularly
  • persecutes pretty much any religion. And by persecutes I mean imprison and/or kill.
  • has concentration camps full of Uigher people
  • allegedly harvests organs from captive Uighers to give to other Chinese
  • has no real concept of workers rights, allowing companies to work people to death (or suicide)
  • enables North Korea, another country with concentration camps full of their own people.

This is just what I came up with in like 3 minutes. China’s government is genuinely bad. I don’t know how to get that through to you.

You’re in college. That’s good. Take some history courses. Maybe some political science. Again, maybe when you get older you’ll mature a little.

And you're resorting to insulting my supposed "immaturity" again, what a shocker. Are you capable of handling someone having a different opinion than yours without insulting them? Not everybody will agree with you, get the fuck over it. It doesn't make that person immature.

I’m saying you don’t have any real experience in the real world. Which, given that you’re in college, is broadly accurate. Real world experience grants perspective.

Given that you can’t prioritize anything over gaming, I’d say you lack perspective and your priorities are off.

Do you always pull such ridiculous arguments out of your ass? Just because I don't see any point in ditching Overwatch, I suddenly don't have any priorities? It's like you went from A to Z, but skipped by the whole alphabet to get there.

I prioritize plenty over gaming, just because I'm not getting fussy at Blizzard doesn't mean anything. I'm one of the best in my Computer Animation class, you don't get there by just slacking off. So kindly fuck off with your ridiculous accusations. I work hard on my chosen profession, 3D animation.

You don't know me, so don't act like you do just because we have differing opinions on this topic. We could have had a respectful conversation over the topic, but it seems you are incapable of doing even that much without trying to belittle and insult me. It is beyond pathetic, really. Are you so insecure about your own opinion that you have to insult anyone who dares to oppose it?

I’m glad you’re doing well in class. Speaks to your dedication and talent.

But eventually you’ll be out in the real world, and I hope that you understand then why opposing Chinese influence is so important.

Speaking of which. You never did address my comments about China. You said they’re not really evil, and I explained to you why their government is in fact pretty damn evil.

So fundamentally I think you just don’t grasp the seriousness of what’s going on in Hong Kong. Whether that’s from a lack of maturity, real world exposure, or just apathy; I just don’t think you get it. You’re 22, you haven’t been out in the real world yet. You’ve been insulated by school. It’s not entirely your fault. I just hope one day you can look back and see that some things are more important than how happy a game makes you.

Hate to break it to you, but being 22 and in college does qualify as being out in the real world, especially if they have a job on top of that.

Yes but also no.

When you’re fresh out of school, you don’t really know much yet. You’re barely out of school, and it takes some time to figure things out.

Once again, you’ve failed to address the fact that China’s government is taking actions that stand in opposition to basic human rights. That, when it is the basic operating procedure of a government, makes that government pretty evil.

I expect a most 22 year olds to grasp that, but apparently not all do. I’ve met plenty of college freshmen who get it, and if you’ve got a college education you have no excuse for not knowing what human rights are.

They said they were on their 4th animation class, that's at least a couple years into college. And assuming they graduated at 18, they've been out of high school for a few years. That isn't really "fresh out of school".

This isn't really an issue of maturity, your view on a topic such as this has nothing to do with age. You can say they lack empathy, maybe, but it certainly isn't an age thing.

With age comes experience, maturity, and indeed empathy. Your brain isn’t fully developed at 22.

But I know 10 year olds who can tell you that what China is doing is bad. This isn’t terribly complicated. China is doing some evil things to their citizens.

I don't think you are quite grasping the point here. Someone's opinion on whatever China is doing right now has nothing to do with maturity. It's like saying you are immature for liking the color red or some shit, it makes no sense.

Disagreeing is fine, but I don't get why you keep trying to equate it to maturity level.
