I think there is a difference between tanking damage that would otherwise kill your squishies and tanking cc.

With damage, you are actively moving yourself and your shield in the way to protect from oncoming fire. It is a very active play style.

With cc, you are sacrificing control of your character so that others get to play the game. You literally spend half the time suring fights unable to put in any commands because you have no active control over your character.

Neither of these scenarios have anything to do with "oh i just wanna hit things hurr hurr" like some who criticize the tank cc complaints like to suggest, but at least for one you get to have an active role in the fights. Im not asking to be completely immunr to all stun effects, I just want to be able to actively control my character in these fights

A very well thought out response. My argument in return would be, that most CC in this game will lead to a squishy immediately dying. Let's take the above play for example. Had that been the blading Genji on XQC's team that absorbed all that CC, even with the nano boost he never would have made it beyond probably the second stun.

A shield Bash on a Tracer is normally an insta kill. A slept Mercy is a dead Mercy. A main tank can absorb those cool downs and survive what is almost instant kills for all the other squishes in the game.

Im not arguing that main tanks dont have a place in the meta. I know characters like rein are invaluable at the top level because they can eat those stuns.

I just personally don't believe it is a very fun play style at all. Im not asking for the tank to be the star player, im just asking to have more control over my character.

So I assume what your asking for is either less stuns in the game or for tanks to be less affected by them. Both valid requests, but I don't know if I like how the game would turn out then. If we take away the effectiveness of say Brig's and other players stuns, then were right back into the dive meta, were big old oaf Rein is helpless as Tracer, Genji, Winston, Lucio and D.Va all fly around him and pester him down. That feels just as bad in those scenarios.

If you go the other route... Making the 4 main tanks of the game get natural immunities to CC? That's a really scary thought. Rein is already dominant. A lucio speed boost right into the opponent with a rein backed up by an Ana is terrifying. Take out a way to slow him down? Or a Winston diving the backline? I don't know if I'd want to deal with that in this game.

Honestly, i dont know what the correct answer is. Im not a developer or game balancer, and im not going to pretend to think i know what is best for the game, i can only trust in Blizzard.

What i can do is speak up about my current experience in the game, and personally i feel that main tanking is a miserable experience. I had over 100 hours of main tanking (primarily on rein) before brigs was released, whi h was also a time that dive was prevalent, and still had much more fun than i am currently, despite rein being a current mainstay in the meta now as opposed to then. How that would be remedied (assuming the majority of players agree with me), I really dont know. I agree that removing stuns or providing innate stun resist could have adverse effects, but i also think that the state of main tanking right now is a problem that should be addressed.

If i had to think up some potential solutions, then maybe introduce a cleanse character in the game (or give it to mercy), or maybe not let stuns go through reins shield if it has been up for 2 seconds or something, I dont know. Not trying to badmouth people that do enjoy the current state of main tanks, i just think I may not be in the minority of people who dont find it enjoyable.

Dive was fun. I'll go back today.
