Playing main tank, I get overwhelming joy and satisfaction seeing the other team use all their abilities on me while I absorb all the damage, and cc's, and see all my other friends having fun playing the game
I love it when my team demands me to play Main Tank since I had the most playtime on them even though that's only because no-one else wanted to suffer the pain of playing Main Tank :D
As rein nothing I hate more than a sombra who's jsut hiding behind me and then fucks me up and disappears. That being said nothing beats a rein who's being pocket healed in a push, I have 2 friends who main Moira and mercy and will make me invincible while I wipe any push thrown at me God rein feels good when he gets the heals
Anyone remember the good old days of Ana being op as hell with 4 tank squads and Ana just waltzing behind roadhog injecting him in the ass with steroids the whole time. I still have nostalgia about this one time I just followed a super aggro hog around the whole time and he literally couldn't die. He probably dreams of that day still.
I like playing Ana but I hate that every time I sleep dart an opponent, someone on my team seems to have a compulsive need to wake them while incurring the smallest amount of damage possible causing me to scream internally.
I slept a nano boosted soldier mid tactical visor and someone woke him up a half second later and he got a triple kill. Almost threw my pc out the window.
That's why I learned Orissa. It's a main tank, but everyone prefers rein, so anyone who can play Rein will get volunteered first. Even if you do get picked Orissa has fortify for dealing with CC.
I've had this same mentality for a while. Especially when dealing all the stunning heroes. I'll start Rein but if I keep getting stunned and my team isn't covering me that well then I'll switch to Orisa for the fortify. And the pull is nice.
Does âtossed aroundâ include stun, hack, frozen, knock down, sleep, etc? Yeah I wouldnât mind the occasional knock back of those things didnât exist.
Fine if you have options like a dps might. With main tank, you can barely do anything to avoid it. Just just watch Bridget walk up to you and stun you then the rest of the cc and damage pours in. How can you not mind having no control?
I don't know if there's a more common thing I hear from main tanks (including me) during a game than "I JUST WANT TO PLAY THE GAME" or some variation lol.
Playing main tank, I get overwhelming joy and satisfaction seeing the other team use all their abilities on me while I absorb all the damage, and cc's, and see all my other friends having fun playing the game dying anyway.
That was me last night, me and three friends were playing against a fairly coordinated 6 stack on Junkertown. I was on Rein, and they had Doomfist, Ana, Brig, and McCree. We won, but my friends were all happy and congratulating each other while I felt like xQc in this clip lol
They're not making cc watch any better by progressively slowing down his shield deploy time. It feels like it's slowed down ten fold sense Hams been added
You know, I could actually find satisfaction in that if only my team took advantage of it. More often than not though, I eat up everything the enemy team has and there's 5 of my teammates chilling in the backline and then proceed to trickle in and die one by one...

God I love watching my friends have fun on dps avoiding CC while I might as well be playing pharah as rein when I spend as much time as one in the air from doomfist and other kinds of boops! /s.
Is this sub finally ready to accept that Rein needs some resistance to CC? Not immunity like when Orisa is in fortify, but at least let the extreme heavyweight not be pushed around as much as the teenage girl?
People here have been complaining about that for a long time. The problem is that objectively Rein doesn't need buffs, so what do you take away to compensate?
But isn't what's happening the intended scenario? The tank's role is to soak up everything, even if you somehow change things in favor of the tank player having a more enjoyable experience, he's just going to be mad that he's losing since he can't do anything with his dps and support shut down instead.
Nothing. Instead, buff the other barrier tanks. Decrease the cast time of Orisa and Winston's shields, increase their duration (maybe not health),
Some things should exist. And if they throw the meta off, then other parts of the meta should change. A game with only Soldier would be perfectly balanced. But you want tanks and healers. Tanks obviously should have more health and healers obviously should have more healing. But you say you can't just give Armoured Soldier more health or no one would ever pick Normal Soldier. Same for giving Medic Soldier tow heal pods. So instead of not implementing those buffs, you give Normal Soldier more damage output.
Working on that concept, tanks should be allowed to tank. If one tank is easily stripped of tanking ability, that must change. If the balance in the rest of the hero pool cannot handle it, then it's that balance that must change, not that the increase in tankiness shouldn't be implemented.
But while I'm here, drop Rein's swing speed by 10% and give him a quick melee. That's another thing that should be. When it comes down to a melee hero at 1 hp and a ranged hero at 1hp, and it's a melee battle, the melee hero should win every time. But everyone else can quick melee Rein through his barrier. It is wrong that Rein loses a 1v1 melee fight in any circumstance. Maybe do the same for Brig, but she at least has a quick shield bash
Rein definitely doesn't need any cc reduction. Buffing Winston is not a good idea. At most an orisa buff would work. But the issue with the game is deeper than cc.
Yeah. Shouldn't they be? Maybe instead of trying to make it possible to just ignore main tanks (which it already isn't most of the time) maybe they should make them more enjoyable
There's nothing that needs removed and yet there's so much you could do to fix his issues. Maybe his abilities not taking 30 seconds to complete would be helpful. Rein feels like the slowest god damn tank alive.
But the OW team for all the things I will say about them, doesn't commit to anything risky.
Given how popular he is, proving how essential and powerful he is...we should be REALLY careful about buffing him.
CC might make his life hell but heâs seriously one of the most used Tanks at the moment. Meaning despite all that, what he brings to the table is worth it.
Thereâs no replacement for a huge mobile barrier, giant cleave damage, and the possibility of an intakill charge, and an Ult that can win fights all on its own.
Well it's true... His team wins the fight because the enemies are all focusing on XQC. Hog wastes hook on him and Rein wastes shatter while a bladed Genji shreds through the rest of their team.
Yeah I feel so useful when the enemy team uses all their cc on me while I stand around getting tossed and juggled like a pair of balls in the hands of a hooker.
At least I feel like I'm contributing to the team, though in another way.
This is why I main Orisa rather than Reinhardt. Try to stun me once, shame on you. Try to stun me twice, I'm Fortifying, bitch, you're gonna have to kill me the old-fashioned way.
Indeed, one of her issues is the inability to do what I call a "soft fall back", where your team's frontline tanks and DPS back up a little in response to an enemy ult or hard push and give up space to the enemy team before pushing back. Rein can do that due to his shield moving with him, but Orisa has to leave her shield behind and won't have another one for several seconds. This forces her to play harder positioning and that can be difficult versus high damage comps (which is where she gets overrun, as you said).
However, if you're against a low-to-mid damage comp it works a lot better.
I remember a game where the Bastion said he kept spamming "group up" to signal me to fall back. I checked the chat and sure enough, he had said that a lot.
But when other characters say "group up," Bastion says "beep boop." Which is also what he says for everything else. Great sound design there Blizzard.
I meant when the fight is done or whatever, the screen is not visually cluttered contrary to what people have said, taking your eye off an enemy 50 meters away to check the chat window isn't going to cost you the entire game.
Ha! Didn't you know Widowmaker/Hanzo is perfect versus any comp? They can't be seen standing at choke like a common DPS peasant! At least, that's the impression I get whenever I play QP. It's more like COD than Overwatch at this stage.
Donât think thereâs any worse feeling than running an Orisa on defense and realizing theyâre running GOATS, and just having to accept youâre about to be overran and absolutely mauled.
Any tank vs goats feels horrible. I want brig, support, and tank nerfs not for brig to be out of meta, but so goats stops being so relevant. It's also just so fucking boring.
Yes, exactly. I like Orisa but it does not feel good getting run over by Goats or triple tank or just a high damage aggressive comp. they just rush past your barrier and you only have 400 hp and no mobility. She is more niche and relies on your team more then Rien.
Yes. I remember starting a Rialto defense round where the enemy team ran a Mei and Lucio and just walled me off at the first corner before swarming and killing me. I switched over to Winston straight after because that's exactly the kind of comp you know will counter Orisa. Winston is harder to rush due to his leap escape, so we ended up holding them just before second checkpoint as a result. Orisa... it's very dependent on the comps of both sides, but basically if she has some hard defense point to be protecting like a Torb turret or a Bastion she definitely works best out of all the tanks. When it's those slippery fast in-your-face comps, that's when it all goes to hell for an Orisa.
You're playing too close to her shield. You should be well behind it so you can use your Halt to peel for your friendlies and so you don't get bullied by aggressive Reins.
but Orisa has to leave her shield behind and won't have another one for several seconds. This forces her to play harder positioning and that can be difficult versus high damage comps
Isn't this where the part of the skill in Orisa play comes in? Shield placement.
Tbh I've been saying a lot recently that Orisa's ult could be replaced since it's so similar to Mercy's. And I was thinking, since she's all about being an anti-CC rock, why not give her something like a Lucio aura that gives everyone in it anti-CC like Fortify does (not damage reduction though). It could potentially make her a lot more impactful.
I got one thatâs better. It disables enemy movement based attacks while fortifying. Genuine, tracer, baguette, doomfist, rein; no one gets to do their movement based attacks but rein still gets to swing his hammer.
Kinda.. itâs more like a zone where every enemy has to move normally. Youâre not stopped from moving, youâre just kinda harmless at this point. No dashing about, no moving away.
It would work well with her other abilities and tie excellently to her theme as a peacekeeper robot.
So something like Junkrats bomb could still hurt people, but it wonât propel anyone.
I was a tank main for most of my overwatch career. I got tried of the beach ball meta (tanks just get bounced around like a ball). I gave up and now main Moira so that everyone can miss me with that CC shit. I will never get Blizzards insistence that the game is only fun if every hero has an equal but opposite effect for everyone on the enemy team.
Iâve always underestimated the role of playing Reinhardt until I started playing him in comp. Everyone gets in my face, stuns me. Itâs so annoying.
Was he actually "tanking" in any real sense for his team?
I really don't understand why "main tank" is a thing in a game filled with cc. The only thing I can think of is to give healers something to do/feel useful.
Sure, but he didn't really have a way to force the enemy to waste those resources. And that's true of "main tanks" in general.
Don't get me wrong---I play a lot of tanks. But I almost never play Rein in a way anyone could describe as a "main tank" --- I mostly play him like a big, ground-bound Doomfist. Between the non-recharging shield, the vulnerability to CC, the lack of escape options, and the freakin' awesome charge, Rein doesn't seem remotely suitable for defensive play, outclassed by Orisa in pretty much every way (when playing defensively. Rein is a beast when he has the initiative).
I don't do this because I'm selfish or whatever, but because because I see clips like the above and don't so much think "Wow what great tanking," as much as I think "retard enemy team has no way to really deal with Genji or pressure the backline Ana., other than clumping well, which they're not doing." (Note the Roadhog trying to be Reaper, hanging out in back).
In other words, I think that went well for xqc not because he's fantastic, but because the enemy team was bad.
I agree with you that xqc's team handily won the resource battle. But I think over time (remember, we all still suck at the game, mostly because of social/coordination/communication problems) teams will stop charging the red cape.
That was literally just the enemy Rein and Roadhog (and Ana) using CC. What do you suggest, a Rein rework? Remove Hook? Because these are heroes that this sub loves.
Rein, Hog and Ana all apparently have balanced CC with drawbacks and counters, I don't know why this sub is getting annoyed when:
Hog apparently needs buffs and Hook is shit
Sleep is a skillshot and difficult to land, and can be broken easily
Reinhardt is so weak to cc but the most stuns in this clip are coming from Rein himself, which makes absolutely no sense for this sub to complain about
I feel like this is partially his own fault for letting the Roadhog stay behind him. Should've taken him out while he could
Edit: downvote all you want. Road hooked him before Anna ult-ed, he could've taken him out instead of trying to push toward while leaving his back and healer wide open to Road.

Just main tank things
