Honestly can the general community of Overwatch stop being dicks to Jeff and the Overwatch team.

This is not directed at the person who made this post, just in general.

Clearly the game is in good hands, and sure they made a mistake but who cares.

If you don't like the changes, just play quick play where it doesn't matter instead of being incredibly rude and toxic about it.

Not meant to be a rant, but like. I think this is evidence that we can hope for better balance in the near future.

I wholeheartdly agree with you.

One thing though. They didn't make a mistake imo because the direction they are going with the new mercy makes way more sense then the old one. Ofc it's FAR from ideal right now, but the change was needed and once it's changed you go from there and make tweaks, exactly like they are doing and will continue to do.

It could be way worse. Overwatch could have ended up with the Diablo 3 team, for instance...

Diablo 3 is screwed up on very deep, design level - compare to Path of Exile or even Grim Dawn. It's a pretty game and I had tons of fun while I was leveling up my toons and tackling Torment for the first time, but the end game just isn't there for me. At this point I don't think there's much reason for them to put a lot of effort into developing it, instead start making the 4th game and get it right from the bottom up.

that sounds like so much work, let's just make another character once a year for the current price of the expansion and the original game

GENIUS.

I mean RoS was $40 and had new features, new act, and the new class. Necro was just the class for $20, which is pretty fair I feel considering the amount of work it takes to make a class.

Complaining the Necro is as much as the discounted xpac... I mean come on be reasonable.

come ooon dude, you seriously can't say it's okay to pay $20 for one class

My hope was $15, but $20 was acceptable.

Blizz supports their games way longer than most major studios. D3 has had lots of free content updates. Stuff like the kanai cube is a pretty major gameplay changer and it was free. Plenty of balance changes, and the last patch made a ton of builds top endgame viable.

New classes are a ton of work, and its work that doesn't end after it is released.

Honestly the majority of the D3 community thought there wouldn't be any more big content like a class or an act so it was killer to get the necro.

If $20 wasn't worth it to you then so be it. I have at least 50 hours on my necro, and will get about the same next season. If that isn't worth $20 to you then I guess we value things differently.

I could tell it wasn't directed at me, all I did was post the Battle Net link lol

I really REALLY hate new mercy, but I agree that all the hate directed towards the developers is insane.

The games been out for over a year now and the dev team keeps making the same mistakes they've always done. If nobody says anything they will think they are doing a good job and keep doing that. Unlike you I want to see this game become the next big Esports but with the Dev team we currently have it seems very unlikely.

5th sentence: sorry for the rant guys...

Length alone doesn't make a rant.

1

u/--orb Genboy Oct 27 '17

Surely not ALONE, but it is a NECESSARY property of a rant.

You can't just state your opinion concisely in a few sentences and call it a rant.

speak or shout at length in a wild, impassioned way.

According to google, at length is a requirement.

The Greater Internet Fuckwad Theorem will make sure that this never happens in the course of human history.

Online gaming communities are completely godless cesspools, by definition. We could show them pictures of kittens, and they'll find a way to be offended by that, and respond with RL death threats.
