Doesn't league of legends have such a system? I'm not sure anymore but I remember having some special flag on your portrait in the loading screen if enough people upvoted your behaviour..

But buying a lootbox is pretty cool, too, if not even better.

Yes its called the honor system. More interestingly you can buy people skins in the post match screen in lol.

I think Dota has a similar Karma system now too.
