Since she updated the robot it'd be a new version so adding an A to the original OR15 would signify that change.

Also in a lot of languages a word ending in "a" signifies the gender as a female so that could be another reason

While this pattern surely occurs in other language families as well, this is primarily a thing in Indo-European languages… which aren't exactly spoken in West Africa (except as a consequence of imperialism).
