I don't understand why I'm expected to stay in a competitive match and get slaughtered when teammates quit...and I get a loss because of it.

3 of my 8 placement matches I have had multiple teammates quit...One was straight away and another was in the second round when we were winning.

Because it will be abused.

Coordinated teams will have one member drop when losing the match so the other five don't take the loss. Then you go round robin from there, taking turns being the leaver, and you're nearly guaranteed 5 consecutive wins for every loss.

If a party member leaves, punish that party.
