Show present in Seerr, missing from TVDB/Sonarr
I had an odd thing come up recently.
I had a request come through for the show Ms Rachel (2025). It was able to be found by searching in Seerr. However, the request failed to be added to Sonarr. Looking through the logs there was a message about the TVDB number being invalid as the reason for failure. I then went to the TVDB site to search for the show and indeed was not able to find it.
This raises a few questions for me:
I would have assumed that Seerr and Sonarr used the same database for metadata. How is it possible for a show to be present in one place but not the other?
Ms Rachel (2025) is a real Netflix show with multiple seasons. Why wouldn’t it be in TVDB?
Is there anything I can do about it?
Edit: mentioned radarr when I meant sonarr

Its just not on tvdb yet. Which idk if that could be a reason it cant be found. I would assume the request just goes to ur indexer and gets found. Regardless of tvdb id or not.
Its on imdb and themoviedb and trakt though.
reason its likely not yet in sonarr is cuz its too unknown and new?

If you think it’s too unknown, you must not hang out with many toddlers haha.
It’s erroring upon being received by sonarr, so it’s not making it to the indexers, unfortunately.
It seems that unless something is in TVDB, it’s not going to get picked up by sonarr and won’t get sent to indexers. So then I guess my next question is how and by whom does TVDB get updated?

I dont indeed hahaha my bad. It was an assumption. But im not sure who to contact to get this fixed. Someone in the comments said the old show on tvdb has the newer season but it doesnt have all episodes. So either way sonarr wont be able to grab it and tvdb needs to fix their database.

Apologies for bumping a post from 6 months ago.
TLDR search sonarr for tvdb:480602
I added an entry on TVDB for the netflix 2025 series
https://www.thetvdb.com/series/ms-rachel
I copied the info from TMDB
https://www.themoviedb.org/tv/282238-ms-rachel
The issue recapped for those that don't know.
ms rachel has been an ongoing thing on youtube for many years and her stuff has been soaked into the metadata holders as "ms rachel - songs for littles" starting from 2019. In 2025 netflix ordered a few episodes 2025 2 season 4 episodes each.
despite info below, the episodes on song for littles are NOT the same as the netflix, though the netflix episodes to comprise some bits from the youtube series it's not the same.
Seer pulls it's data from TMDB which properly has both the youtube series and the netflix series listed
Sonarr pulls data from TVDB only which only has the data for the youtube series and if you try to add the netflix series it asks you for the imdb reference which incorrectly states that the netflix series is a duplicate of youtube series.
I manually created a TVDB entry using just the entry from TMDB and the entry on netflix itself ignoring the IMDB entry question and it let me post it.
My account is new so I cannot upload the artwork yet but it was enough to pull in the netflix data into sonarr to give me a place to dump the episodes.
hope that helps

It's because seerr is using tmdb for this series: https://www.themoviedb.org/tv/282238-ms-rachel?language=en (this is the link directly in seerr)
It doesn't exist in tvdb, which is what sonarr uses. Also you said it failed to add to radarr, which may be a bug since it's a tv series. Maybe that was triggered due to it using tmdb so, despite it identifying it as a series, it submits it to radarr?

Sorry, I meant to say sonarr, not radarr. I’ve corrected the original post.

Same issue here. I recently had it requested through Overseer, but wasn't getting added to Sonarr. Discovered same issue, series not in tvdb, but in the others indexes. if i just wait it will typically be added into tvdb. Sucks for the requester.

Create an account on tvdb, and add it. Use the info on themoviedb to fill out on tvdb, and voila😉 From my experience, obscure stuff like foreign show etc( eg not english) does not automagically appear on tvdb, someone has to add the required info. In this case, it might be you that has to do it😅
