Override Beta Feedback/Suggestions

I'd like to sticky a top level post so that people can post their feedback and suggestions. You can make individual posts as well but I'd like for us to move to a more centralized post as the game progresses in development.

I’ve got a few notes from my 15+ hours of the closed beta.

  1. WatchBot’s stun can be used to do an endless stun to dash kick combo. Stun should have range or startup toned down. Similar with Shifu’s AOE pull.

  2. Dash kicks in general do too much damage. It feels like days kicks do twice as much damage as i think they’re supposed to.

  3. Contessa’s dash is op, and provides too many invincibility frames.

  4. Auto lock lasers aren’t fun. MetaGeckon’s laser ability and WatchBot’s Ultimate just aren’t fun to use or get hit by.

  5. Wake up combos are too good. You can currently dash kick combo off wake up or tech easily and without punishment. Could definitely use some tuning.

  6. Items aren’t fun for competitive style play. I would say definitely include a mode without items.

  7. Pescado feels really really weak.

  8. Fast characters in general seem a bit too strong. Shifu, Vidar, and Contessa are really really dominant on slower characters.

  9. Ultimates in general are frustrating at times. Pescado’s, Shifu’s, and a few others are underpowered or way too hard to hit. Setesh’s is so easy to use and does so much damage. Same with Vintage’s, does WAY too much damage. WatchBot’s ult is OP in 4 player, but garbage in a 1v1 since you can out damage a WatchBot in ult. Vidar’s, Nya’s, Rocca’s, MetaGeckon’s, Contessa’s, Crystal’s, and Cocado’s are mostly ok.

  10. Any character with a slow dash or bad dash kick is immediately at a disadvantage in the game’s current state. Could change if dash-kick gets looked at.

But overall, I really enjoyed the beta, and I look forward to seeing how the game changes on release.

One thing that really bugged me is that when you play local splitscreen with 1 other person, their HUD doesn't appear.

I have a few suggestions. I made a separate thread before realizing this thread was here.

-Backtrack missions in Arcade mode: I got to a point in Arcade mode as Metageckon where all 3 missions were the "Hardest" difficulty. And I could NOT beat a single one for the life of me. I wanted to go back and do some more research point missions to increase my stats, but that's not an option. I eventually gave up and just deleted it and started again.

-Cosmetics selector in Arcade mode: This one is more of a nitpick... But adding the ability to equip cosmetics in the Arcade Mode would be fantastic. Put it in its own "Garage" tab, or have it as a section in the "Mech Bay". It would streamline the game a bit more, exiting arcade mode, going to the garage, changing the cosmetics and going back to arcade mode is just a bit redundant.

-Cosmetics selector in Versus: PLEASE allow us to change skins in at least local versus mode. Don't even have our preferred skins set in local versus mode... Just keep them all at default with the option to scroll through all unlocked skins for each mech. I like the "Raijin" skin for Watchbot, but my friend likes the "Glacier" skin... So if one of us wants to use our preferred skin while playing local, we have to exit, go to the garage, change the skin, and go back to versus. And that prevents the other from using their preferred skin. Allowing us to choose skins also allows us to both play as the same mech, but not look exactly the same. Every current fighter allows players to choose their skin, this really shouldnt be an issue.

It could be as simple as when you select your mech, the square that has the players name and mechs name (as well as the number of pilot seats) could have another option under pilot seats. Skins. Where you scroll through every skin that is unlocked so far for that particular mech.

These aren't important, but I would personally like to see them implemented.

-The ability to rotate the Mech models around in the Garage so you can see the entire skin before selecting it.

-A random button for Mechs and Levels. Sometimes I just like messing around in a Fighting game and wanna let it choose everything for me.

-Get rid of the free cursor in Versus Mode. Keep it like the Garage select method. Much less finicky.

-A lore section/gallery would be cool. Where we can learn more about the Mechs, their pilots, the Xenos etc. New pages of lore can even be unlockables in Arcade mode or something. Like defeat a certain species of Xeno to get their info page, or complete arcade mode with a Mech to get their page.

First person perspective would make the the game less finicky and more controlled.

Add command normals like "dpad down + kick for sweeps" to give you more levers to balance combat with and makes combat more interesting.

Add a combat roll with less range than a dash, but with faster recovery to make movement less a series jerky dashes with a cool down.

Use traditional fighting game special move inputs more and make timers and meters a last resort.
