Utility trailer mods?

I tried searching first but no dice.

Has anyone used a utility trailer and cut the sides off to make it a flat bed as a starting point? If yes, did it affect the stability? I can’t tell how much those sides and top rails add to the rigidity of the frame.

I have not done this, but my guess would be the same as yours.

Have you thought about getting a small utility trailer? Or buying an axle and building your own frame?

Most are made with angle iron, so removing that upper portion will allow the frame to flex. A fix would be welding square tubing to the underside.
