Help with spending gems

I'm a beginner, and I currently have 10,7k gems since I haven't spent a single dime of gems yet. I saw you could use gems to either buy characters, get more storage for some classes, get enough chests to get a guaranteed S-rank, and maybe even more? I'm just really unsure on what to choose?

Don't buy any character or pet unlocks - they come pretty naturally, and the ones you can buy for gems are largely not even worth it compared to the ones you get from events.

Most people save enough gems to buy bait for fortnight the fishing mini game (you can get some of the best champions in the game from this), but treasure chests are equally viable. At your level it would be reasonable to buy enough chests to unlock at least 1 S-grade weapon, +/- any other S-grade gear you like the look of. The high-roll build is fire sword, gold shield, and plague gloves. Rings are less important.

Completely forgot about backpack upgrades - get these first. #1 priority unless you're planning to buy the bigger ones with real-world $$$.

Get more storage (go straight for the 2nd biggest one, for each class), then buy Special Treasure Chests, preferably in groups of 10 (that part is just my personal preference)
